Rather strong build I have been playing around with, only drawback is you deal almost all if not exclusively fire damage (depends on staff elemental damage for basic attacks) so enemies resistant to fire like the rage demon will be harder to take down. Otherwise it offers high damage, high crowd control, heals and a bit of durability to top things off.

Destruction Tree

Immolate

Conductive Current

Flash Point

Clean Burn

Fire Mine (Ability)

Searing Glyph

Wall of Fire (Ability)

Lasting Flames

Pyromancer

Death Syphon

Firestorm (Ability)

Recommend starting here in the Destruction tree and grabbing the ability spells early and then fill out the passives as you move into the higher levels.

Control Tree

Winters Grasp

Peaceful Aura

Guardian Spirit

Barrier (Ability)

Elegant Defense

Chaotic Focus

Strength of Spirits

Potential Passives for remaining points at lvl 20:

Defiant from the destruction tree

Veiled Riposte from the control tree

Gathering Storm from the control tree

Control of the elements from the destruction tree

How it works? Firestorm summons flaming meteors which do nice damage and knock down enemies in a wide area making for a safe combat area, the spell is particularly effective in tight spaces / choke points. While enemies are being knocked down or should firestorm be on cooldown, wall of fire causes enemies to become panicked and also does a large amount of damage over a wide area also being incredibly effective in tight spaces / choke points. Fire mine is an incredibly high damage ability that takes a little while to activate but can be placed with a high level of success when paired with the other two abilities (also works well on slow moving targets like bosses / mini-bosses or those stationary like archers or other ranged enemies). Barrier gives you some added durability but the real reason for it is to pair with the chaotic focus passive and add to the damage you dish out with fire spells. Also a special mention to Death Syphon, it restores mana and health just by being near enemies when they die, huge value to be gained from this passive.

Other recommendations, keep mana low as it increases your damage output while Death Syphon will keep your health and mana up. A staff that doesn't do fire elemental damage is recommended for those enemies that are fire resistant (only rage demon comes to mind) as your abilities will do significantly reduced damage to them if they aren't immune entirely (knockdown usually works though) but otherwise, more damage, magic / willpower, critical hit chance and assortment of passives are always nice to have.

Sounds good but it will be so hard for me to not choose Fade Step though... :P

P.S. I also like the combo with Winter's Grasp and Immolate.

Flashpoint is a must for Firestorm due to the 60s cooldown.  Since Flashpoint triggers on the next fire spell cast it will severely limit Firestorm's usefulness if the no cooldown effect is wasted on Fire Mine or even Wall of Fire.  Since Flashpoint has a 10s cooldown before it can proc, in reality it will activate every ~15-20s (10s cooldown + ~5-10s to proc).  That doesn't mean much when Firestorm is on cooldown for 3-4 times as long.  Also, let's not forget about fire immune enemies.  It's a fun idea but it seems really weak once you apply it due to the long cooldowns on every skill (16s, 24s, 32s & 60s).  Even with Clean Burn and Gathering Storm you are looking at quite a lot of downtime.

I just unlocked the ele and like it a lot!
Are there any more viable builds like this one? Fire only seems cool although I can only spent my points once....

Thanks in advance

I ended up with a true elementalist - I deal all of them damage types. Of the fire kind I use the firewall - placement is sometimes quirky but I love those screams of panic when a whole bunch passes through.

I'm almost lvl 20 and will respec for another build then - a true pyro sounds fun.
