I'm not sure if this is a bug, but it seems like it: if you ask your companions' opinion about who should use the well Cassandra tells you Morrigan should. If you let Morrigan use it, you get a "Cassandra disapproves" message. If you chose to use it yourself you don't get any disapproval from Cassandra.
I reloaded my save from before the well cutscene and redid the boss fight just to make sure I wasn't supposed to destroy the well or something to avoid getting disapproval; there's no option to destroy the well. Either you have to use it or Morrigan does, so I drank from it this time and got no disapproval message, leading me to believe that this was a bug.
