I heard this somewhere. If true, what's the lowest difficulty you can set to have the maximum amount of enemies? Or is the maximum amount not reached unless you choose insanity?

I think all difficulties have the same amount of enemies. All Insanity really does is boost sky-high the enemies' ability to deal and take damage.

I thought that too but on the Bringing down the Sky asteroid I just changed the difficulty from casual to insanity after seeing three turrets sitting there closed and they immediately opened once the difficulty changed so I know it's true.

The turrets in BDtS don't open until you get close to them. There are not more of them at higher difficulty. As far as I can tell, there are no more enemies at higher levels. The biggest difference is their ability to take damage. The soldier oriented enemies on insanity have something like 90%+ resistance.

I did go up to them and try to open them. They wouldn't open until I changed the difficulty.

I have seen people on this board say that higher difficulties help you level up more in a play through because there are more enemies.

There are more enemies in some fights. I'm on my third playthrough (all done recently) and the last one is on insanity. The first battle I noticed more enemies was right near the beginning on Eden Prime. Right after you find Nihilus..it throws you into a battle. Never before on my other playthroughs was there a rocket drone down on the platform below. It took me by surprise and killed me. XD

I thought more enemies had more to do with your level. Was the rocket pod on a new character or a rerun??

I really can't tell a difference in Veteran and Insanity other than how long it takes to kill enemies. Did my insanity run and then backed down to Vet to make characters for ME2.

Rocket dron or rocket Geth? I've never seen a drone there and I've played through insanity at least 4 times. The Geth was always there, he's just really slow, so unless you dilly dally he shouldn't have a chance to fire at you. If memory serves

There is a rocket drone there, it's correct.

Seriously? Like one of those floaty triangles? In all my playthroughs the only drones I have ever seen on Eden Prime are those 3 weak little practice drones you practice taking cover against. Is that in the console version (I have PC)? With Pinnacle Station installed (the one thing I don't have)?

Even without Pinnacle Station. There is a rocket drone to the left of the ramp you go down to board the tram/train/whatever the hell it is. It's waiting there in ambush, maybe your teammates simply took care of it.
[edit]: PC version.

I just played through Eden Prime, just now. And there was no rocket drone. There were 3 geth on the catwalk right after finding nihlus. Then on the tram below (looking over the railing before going down the ramp) ther is a destroyer and 1 or two geth to his right hiding behind stuff (I took them out by blasting the barrel, so I''m not sure if there was 1 or 2).

You're saying its to the left as you go down that ramp, like under the catwalk?

I played it on hardcore-difficulty. After you found Nihlus and talked to the lazy smuggler / dockworker you have to face some Geth and one rocket drone. This particular drone covers behind the stair rail and you might not even notice it, when you have someone with strong sabotage skill, because it dies very quickly.

IIRC even some of the first drones are rocket drones.

Yeah, at least one of them, in the second set, after you go into that tree-margined area towards Ash.

Wha!?!? Ok, that's nuts. Are you running on hardcore? I'm wondering if that changes things up from insanity. I just played through Eden Prime again, being ectra careful and holding my squaddies back. And there were no rocket drones on the wooded aproach, and none by the catwalk right after nihlus.

Why is my game different? Any chance of a screenshot of those 2 rocket drones? Get's me wondering what else might be different.

Maybe they're indeed only on NG+ playthroughs, as someone else already said, I never tried a fresh playthrough on Insanity, and can't remember for Hardcore.
[edit] Ack, damn, double post.

I just finished a bunch of playthroughs gearing up for ME2. There are rocket drones in NG+ because the mobs scale with your level (more so on the harder difficulties if you read the descriptions of the various difficulty levels). From what I remember on Insanity (which I started fresh) they were not rocket drones they were the little weak drones. 360 version, if it matters.

You probably have the same issue as me, when doing a NG+ if I change the difficulty in the options before starting the game it doesn't actually register. I need to change it once I am ingame for it to work properly and the annoying thing is it doesn't ask when starting a NG+ it just launch you into the game. I figured that one too late and didn't finish hardcore because of that. :(

Ahhh... I've only ever done 1 NG+ game to hit level 60 (I don't even think I finished that one, just quit once I hit 60), and that was a long time ago (so I don't remember if there were different enemies). All my new games are level 1. That must be it. Though I always start with insanity set from the options, I'll play around with switching it in game and see if that makes a difference too (though the enemies are definitely insanity tough, it might not be applying the 'new' enemies).

Thanks for the screenshot, I was really thinking you guys were messing with me.

I agree with Shanra. Definitely on Eden Prime on Hardcore/Insanity (sorry cannot confirm which) there is a Rocket Drone (among the geth after the death of Nilhus) where at lower difficulties there is none. That's a cert! As for later in the game...there could be the odd extra Merc/geth/drone but I cannot say I have taken accurate account in those instances. But if once, then surely again....right?
