So Arcane Knowledge lets him pursue chronomancy further? The more one knows...

If I'd had the Arcane Knowledge Perk, I would have done what many of you did and put him to research, not because he deserves it but because it fits the Bioware theme of doing whatever it takes (seen all throughout Mass Effect and Dragon Age) and putting aside petty injustices to focus on larger problems.

Im curious which of the four other options the rest of you would have chosen if you hadn't had the Arcane Knowledge Perk and thus the option to put him to research?

P.S. TheDarkKnightReturns, like your avatar photo. I love HISHE. Especially the Super Cafe.

I went with sticking him into the conscripted rebel mages. Primarily for the reason voiced by others: he is a father desperate to save his son, not a mere loony villain.

I threw him in jail. What happened with Darkest Timeline Leliana really affected me, and any other sentence seemed too lenient.

Someone above said they believed that Tranquil should not be a punishment. I'd normally agree but I think it would be an apt punishment for him

Actually, what wouldo be perfect is if there was a form of Tranquil that had everything strioped except their ability to feel pain, loss, and humiliation and if Dorian was able to perform the rite because he'd been taught by Alexius.

I was really consistent over the course of the game in making everyone I could useful to the Inquisition, so anyone that could be an agent became an agent.

This thread answers my question on what to do with him. But if you choose to make him work for you or the mages. Who approves and disapproves? Like I've only been hesitant to judge the guy cause of companion approval ratings. I'd not execute or make him tranquil. I honestly still think of tranquility worse then death on some ways. But for each choice who approves and disapproves?

I chose to have him perform magical research for the Inquisition (under guard of course).

I liked this option not just because it benefits the Inquisition, but the companions all mostly approve and only like two or three slightly disapprove.

I made him work with the mages. I thought letting him pursue his chronomancy studies to dangerous. Besides, it seemed fitting that he be forced to uphold his promise to the mages.

I separated his head from his body so speak.

I did not trust that mage one bit after Redcliffe.

Made him do magical research because arcane knowledge perk.

edit: without it I'd make him help the mages.

My Inquisitor made him reasearch time magic further.

My Herald is a kind of man who goes by the Illusive Man's rule: "Why kill, when you can control?".

Dead Alexius is useless to the Inquisition - for my Inquisitor the most important tool in fighting is using enemy's resources against him.

As to any moral implications of such a decision, he simply doesn't concern himself with that sort of nonsense.

I made the bastar* a tranquil He basically screwed over the mages and the rest of the world. Yes it was for his son but he should have thought the thing out for more then a half a second

Killed him. As long as he knows that form of magic, too many people are a risk. And, perhaps, he will get to be with his son again.

I thin being a tranquil is the ultimate punishment and he deserved it. Besides he could help the mages as a tranquil

My dalish mage couldn't bring herself to forgive him.

Tranquility, out of spite.

Tranquillity is not a punishment. It will strip him of all emotions and basically he wont feel a thing after that.

I would have killed him but.... Let's just say he owe his life to his son and Dorian :P

Without Dorian he would have succeeded in killing me so as a favour to Dorian, he will serve the mages. I like the irony of that judgement :P

I knew there would be some kind of perk to keeping him alive, but I did what my character would do and executed him.  He would have destroyed the entire world had things gone his way...no speculation on that, either; I experienced it.  In his "defending" remarks, he proved to be utterly remorseless and was still as cray-cray as ever.  I saw no reason whatsoever to let him keep his head.

And the notion of letting him stay at Skyhold, even as a prisoner in the dungeon (let alone a researcher)...I may as well put a viper in my own bed.

This, a thousand times. (though my Inq is human, not Dalish)

If you have Arcane Knowledge perk, you can order him to further research his Time Magic under supervision and custody , which I regard is the best option. Dorian approve this.

You certain? What if he throw another time magic and this time banish the inquisitor after time. This guy is to dangerous to be left in a position of throwing spells, even if controlled.

Magical researcher, though it was mostly a pragmatic choice (he did make time-travel possible, after all, if only once). I know he was desperate to save his son, but the things he did are not the type that can be waved away with regret and an apology.

I made him a researcher. First, he was Dorian's mentor, and second, I listened to what Dorian had to say about him and what happened to his family. Alexius was clearly a good man in the past, so...I showed some mercy and made use of his talents at the same time. I know he tried to kill me, yet I somehow felt sorry for him in the end.

Punishing Alexius for a crime he has yet to commit and will never be able to commit now seemed odd, so I made him do magical research with arcane knowledge perk.

Without it..... probably would make him help the mages. Killing him seemed pointless, the man is broken, and jailing him, even more pointless.

I think the only one I've killed and would killed over and over again is Erimond, he wanted it too.

Work.

It might work for him and me and the cause.

What he did was awful but I really don't think he was fully aware of what the ultimate consequences would be, ultimately, he too was manipulated by Corytheous, what happened to him was also awful, he lost his wife and then his son.
