YES.   Where did it go?  Did Play-testers say "Nah, Defend and Follow is FINE, anything else will just confuse the neebz."

???

thats not all there is to tactics, you can also tell them which abilities to prefer (so for shield mages its shields, resses, dispells etc, for tanks its taunting)

Well for range not going in melee range you will have to use the hold position for now. From the link above

Yeah that doesn't work outside of the tactical camera (which itself is basically broken).  So...

That is great.  Now how do I keep my ranged NPCs from running into melee range?  And how do we keep the NPCs from swimming in pools of fire?  Solve those and we are 1/2 way there.

lol those tactics werent in either of the first 2 either. also you keep them from running into melee range by either A) positioning them or B)not putting them at an angle that would FORCE THEM TO GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO GET A BETTER SHOT

just common sense for me though.

Fleshed out tactics would add so much to the game.  And it wouldn't even need to be big changed - just a couple of extra options (ranged; aggressive for example) would make the world of difference for both combat gameplay and strategy.  At the moment I'm not even looking at hard or nightmare (despite wanting to), because my party is a bunch of idiots and the I can't seem to figure out the PC tactical side of things.

I really hope they fix it - especially when they are denying us the ability to fix it ourselves.

Oh the good old days, I do not think they are ever coming back. However, still hopeful that they will give us back our "tactics" in it`s all complex glory, not this watered down bull.

You are right, those weren't tactics in the previous games... they were called behaviors.  Behaviors that are now missing from DA:I.  You don't seem to have any sense in this matter, common or otherwise.

Really?  Zoomed out to see the whole battlefield lately?  I thought not.

I can manage with the super zoom as long as the range increases.

This game is made for the masses... its not good in the perspective of a computer game. Its no Dragon Age... its "another" Action Console Game.

I'm afraid getting anything even remotely close to DA:O tactical control is about as probable as you wining the lottery (did you know you're more likely to be struck by lightning then to win a big lottery?).

That sort of thing has to be built into a game from square one.  And they're hardly going to do a total game redesign to implement it.

So feel free to complain, but don't expect any results/replies.

I doubt adding more options and situations to the tactics menu requires an overhaul of the game. Maybe adding more scripts and stuff but not an overhaul..

Agreed. I do not think it would be so much work. Plus they can always look at the previous games and see what is missing.

Hopefully they would look at origins' advanced tactics mod

guys, they're probably not going to change anything regarding a.i tactics.

Their budget seems to be within the threshold of making a run/walk toggle even though console version shipped with that, lmfao.

So I guess they don't want to somehow "lose" money fixing their gimpy pathetic PC version of the game when its a complete rush job in the first place. Oh the irony....

If you can still get a refund, get one. I doubt these issues and the tactical mode will be fixed. It probably isn't gonna happen.

DA2 shipped with the same issue and got patched. One would think the lesson here would be downgrading tactics is a bad idea but i guess the lesson is missing things get patched in and things that ARE in require additional money but thats just me disliking preorder and delux bulls**t

You obviously never observe Varric closely enough. He'd run to enemy's face even though he has clear view. I still haven't figured out why, I suppose it's a skill?

The tactical camera is one of the single most disastrous things that happened to this game. It just doesn't function as a playable feature at all. Using it is like torture. You cannot even look up/tilt upwards when you zoom out with it and there is no mouse-drag at all. Terrible.

Not to mention the a.i is horrifyingly bad and there is no way to customize it at all, a lot of the abilities have major bugs in them as well and the hold position command doesn't even freaking work. Did you know if you run a mere 20-30 feet away your entire party teleports to your location if you try scouting while in stealth with a rogue when you make them hold?

It's just bad. This game was released way too early and now they're paying the price for it.

Agreed.

The real question no one at Bioware will answer is...

Who the heck was in charge of the design team for this game? Who programmed the tactics interface and didn't they even try it out to see if it functioned? And IF they did actually try it... How did they think it worked well?

Mind boggling...

Ditto'd on all the complaints. The reviews I've read never mentioned, in detail, just how much DA:I lacked. They may have alluded to not really needing strategy all that much, but that's not the same as 'BioWare broke/gutted the entire Tactics mode'.

The way DA:I is, I find it hard to believe they spoke to any of their core DA fans during development. Or, if they did, those voices were ignored in favour of people who just weren't familiar - or didn't care about - the systems and design in the previous two games.

I've no idea whether they'll be able to add Tactics back in, but it'll be a much lesser game if they don't somehow manage it.

never gona get a bioware response past something along the lines of "we're taking customer feedback into account" regarding the real issues we all care about, which is just PR whitewash

Forced myself to play this game a bit more and after 2 hours or more i decided its not worth it. Jts just not fun for me. Gonna quit until it gets patched if it gets patched.

Or maybe ill treat it like da2 and pretend it never existed.

I dont wanna send this thread off topic, and google will tell you everything you need but bottom line is it was just less on everything, rushed, dumbed down version of origins.
