I have three points to make on the complaints.
1. If those Ben-Hassrath Jedi mind reading skills are anywhere near as good as they seem, Bull probably really does have a pretty good read on the Inquisitor. S/he's a sub in bed, and it's just another thing that makes the Inquisitor more than a blank slate.
2. Even if we could roleplay as a dom Bull would still be one too. I don't see that working out, so no romance. They could've made him a switch, but they didn't.
3. It doesn't look like they were getting up to anything too rough. Maybe it's the limits of animation, but there weren't any welts or bruises or...equipment. If all Bull is into is a bit of power exchange, it seems fairly harmless to let his partner get a taste before going over the ground rules. Until then, "no means no" is a safe bet.

Honestly, I was excited when I heard about Iron Bull's... preferences. But in the game, talking about it ruined the mood for me. In these talks, Iron Bull is being kind, gentle, sensitive, understanding, sweet,
patronizing- and it's all nice, but it really doesn't fit with "tie me down and f*** me like an animal" stuff and other dirty pictures I am seeing in my mind.
Instead, I get the pictures that he's being kind and patient in bed, too, and that she(my character) is saying "katoh" every five minutes just to give him a chance to show how understanding and caring and patient and sweet he is.
So, I guess I'll go back to reading

Since this is video game I think lot of things are up to headcanon? We don't know if first time in bed with Bull involved BDSM exactly and if it did what kind of? I don't think safe word is needed if it was just something like binding hands and Bull asked before it if it was okay etc. So maybe first time wasn't something where these rules and safe words etc. were needed but Bull wanted to go further than that and thus the talk.
