This is not me being confrontational. Snippy yes mostly out of annoyance. But not confrontational.

Now that's fair.

Never meant to imply you were. I was mostly trying to say with the dog metaphor and that last post that we should just leave this alone.

Bull and BDS&M was the topic, I am sure there can be lots to discuss!

Ah I see.

There is of course.

(Like what he and Quizzy's first night actually was maybe some light tying to the bed...maybe squirming too much is what left Quizzy sore :3 )

True enough.

So happy I finally got the Cole banter to trigger :3

Also Dorian later said he drew a diagram for a confused Cole...I hope he's not trying to corrupt my spirit child. I don't want to have to sharpen a knife.

He did?! Why haven't I heard this?? haha.

Yeah, Cole's banter during Bullmance is probably my favorite romance banter of all the games now. The katoh one, plus the one where he totally calls out Bull for not being as controlling in bed as he seems. 'shut up kid, you're ruining the mystery!' hahaha.

I like to think it wasn't rough (the first time at least), but just went on a long time. Bull is pretty smart, I can see him sorta weaning them into it gradually to make sure they're comfortable and can stop anytime without it ever getting out of hand.

Yep Cole was all "why won't you tell me?"

Dorian's all "I drew you a diagram!"

Quizzy's all:

But yes I want that one too! Mostly so I can troll Bull :3

Also explains the let Quizzy rest comment he kept poor Quizzy up all day XD

Quizzy was probably (well mine anyway) first confused then intrigued then confused at their intrigue XD

(I'm not sure why he decides to sleep with Quizzy in that pigsty of a room during the commitment scene though. Even if it's his. There's rubble all over the floor -_- and everyone has access to it. And they clearly didn't even bother to lock the door.)

I think it is his room, which would kinda explain why it isn't very prettied up... the candles are nice, though. xD Set the mood. But yeah, Cass actually complains about how he never locks doors. xP

If I was a Bioware writer, I'd be wondering if it was worth it to try new things when it's just as easy to write formulaic safe romances over and over. Sure, there's be some mild bitching from some quarters, but most people wouldn't notice, probably.

I'm fairly certain they wouldn't have expected this level of scrutiny and disection.

You mean the same old fairy tale prince charming mushy bleh romance that people seemed to have expected in abundance in this game?Ew, no.

A male Josie would've been

Dueling his fiance for his hand would've been

Especially if we got a mega kiss where she pulls him in.

Damnit now I want this.

The true bane of every writer is indifference not hate. If no one cared enough to even talk about it, it would be the same as not writing it at all.

The only "safe" romance I'm aware of in a Bioware title is Cullen's. At least for straight females. All others have a high degree of angst.

Alistair was pretty safe imo and DA1 Leliana too.

I think I'm going rate all the romances on the level of angst from least angsty to most angsty:

Least Angsty: "Safe romances", the kind of people you can take home to mother.

1)Alistair

2)Cullen

3)Leliana

4)Josephine

5)Sebastion

A tad angsty: "It's complicated"

6)Solas

7)Iron bull

8)Isabela

9)Zevran

10)Sera

11)Cassandra

12)Merril

Very angsty: "You're a bastard for loving me" *cries in a corner*

13)Blackwall

14)Morrigan

15)Anders

16)Dorian

17)Fenris

Dorian is that angsty? I figured he was pretty much a fluffmance.

I get how Alistair can be a tad angsty with his romance, given what can happen when made king, his 'secret', ect. But Cullen has the lyrium problems so I wouldn't say his is any less so. I think I'd put Josephine as my #1. Her romance is like pure and happy to the point of major fluff overdose. :D

That's not how I was using safe, lol. I was talking about generating whole threads about how the writing was hugely problematic.

I wouldn't clasfiy Alastiar as least angsty since he does dump you if your a Mage or non human. You must be a normal human noble and have him sleep with Morgian for the both of you to not die and also not make him King if you did not harden him. Which is basicly angst ahoy.

Oh, that. Well, then. Safe and "safe" are different things then. :) Yes, there are a lot of "safe" romances in that the writing is fine. I mean, if the most people can come up with regarding a romance is Leliana talking about wanting to keep your eyes in a jar, then yeah, those are pretty safe.

I did say "straight females." Straight females aren't going to romance Leliana, although I'd say that Zevran's is pretty safe too. You pretty much have to metagame Alistair's romance to get a "happy" ending. Even then you've got some backroom dealing to make and have to be a human noble if you want the royal wedding.

The only romance that's basically puppies and rainbows is Cullen's. (At least for now.... muahahahahaha..... ) Sorry, channeling Bioware for a second. ;)

Eye lashes. Still weird, but not as terrifying. ;)

Dorian was hardly filled with angst. His companion quest was definitely on the heavy side, but that has nothing at all to do with his romance.

Really the only thing angsty about Dorian's romance is his need to constantly test the relationship by trying to give you an out and see if you'll take it.
