I'll do them when someone makes a printable diagram, or a mod to insta solve them. I don't play games for puzzles - hate them. If there is a choice to figh, I'll fight rather than do puzzles.

I notice that sometimes, even if I'm under the time limit, the puzzle resets if any of my companions bump into me.

This an RPG/combat game, not a bloody glorified puzzle quest game - they need to drop the puzzles, or have them be sensible rituals, like bring certain offerings for each Elven god, not random tiles that light up because you stepped on them. Blink, flash on off - WTF I had those on now they're off for no reason and, there is no way to get there w/o walking where I already was, unless I jump and, I'm not playing leap frog or mountain goat - that isn't why I bought the game.

They're not supposed to reset randomly though afaik, only if you step on an already lit one or go too far away from them altogether. So that does sound like a bug to me. :/

I had the same issue with the tiles resetting before I was halfway done with the one on the west side. Using tac cam didn't help, so I reduced all my graphics settings to medium (had been on ultra) and turned off the rest. Didn't have any problems after that (other my own screw-ups
). Just a suggestion for other folks having this problem. Playing on PC.

Hey guys, I usually never post anything at all in forums, but in this case I thought I should share what I have discovered. I have had the same exact issues as you guys for my first play through as a warrior, so I skipped it. I have just finished my second save as a Mage, although I don't think class has to do with this. But I "think" it works if you keep hitting the attack button just before your staff goes back down and back to normal walking, so pretty much press the basic attack mouse or controller button every few seconds, if it works with other classes, I would still use a Mage because with Mage's basic attack your character doesn't move much, with others you might accidently step onto another plate. While I was at the Temple of Mythal, I tried to do it again as before in my first save, randomly reset. Then I thought I was a Mage and maybe it will react to magic, so I tried to keep pressing the attack button and never let my staff go back onto my character's back and let it stay active. I cannot believe what I saw, did all three of them on first try, never reset once for me, I was totally surprised. Also, I was stuck in this "Playing with Fire" quest in the Hinterlands, I ran around it like 30 times and nothing happens. Then I tried this trick with letting my staff stay active, got it on first try, it was unbelievable, now I finally have 100% quest completion. So this is what I have discovered while playing as my Mage, I just thought maybe I should share it so everyone can enjoy the game a bit more and one less thing to worry about, I hope it helps. I would have made a video but as you can already imagine from what I said, I don't do this very often, so I don't know how to make a video. I just hope it works for everyone else, and I play on PC.
Update: I have just loaded my save that I made at the temple just to test this, I tested with a different teammate this time and not the main character (Solas) and I did all three without it resetting once without me doing it on purpose. I have also loaded my warrior save and used Vivienne to do the "Playing with fire" quest and it worked too, I tried to use my main warrior character to do it and see if having her being active (As in fighting mode) will work and it did not, so I guess it has to do with keeping your magic active.

I'm on a tired old PC and I also had the random reset issue but once I turned all the graphic settings down to low and stopped everything going on in the background I was able to do the puzzles without any problems. Thoroughly frustrating but got there in the end!
[Edit: Gah! Spoke too soon. I was able to do the FIRST puzzle without any problems, but the second one, the one with the lever, still keeps resetting.]

Try using tac cam, it seems to help

I'm glad I'm not the only one having issues. I am on PC and cannot complete the rituals after the first one(simple one). I tried tactical mode but when I complete the puzzle nothing happens. If I try to complete the puzzles out of tactical mode it resets randomly. I really hope this gets patched soon.

I had the same problem. I almost went crazy trying to use tatical mode.
As @Lone said: Mage basic attack solved my problem.
Basic attack before running around.
I guess its related to companions, since when we attack they hold position for some seconds.

Well, I'm glad it finally helped someone
Pressing a button just seems a lot easier than going into tactical mode.

I just wanted to tell how bad is the idea of putting a buggy timewaster platformish puzzler in this epic game but my english fails me. I don't really know a word to describe how shitty this idea is... ![]()

The puzzles aren't too bad or hard.
But I kinda miss puzzles like in the Temple of Sacred Ashes in DAO, where spirits talked to you and asked you questions.

Solas morrigan and companions keep walking behind me and messing up the whole thing. ok i've tried tactical mode ask them to hold position but they still move. Is this needed to see MOrri's son? Else i dw to do anymore

There isn't a timer. I have done all the rituals by going slow, stopping, in two playthroughs and none have ever reset. What I do know is...if you go the wrong way round they will reset. Yes, there are other ways to go round. One bit is when you have to turn around to face west on one square then north.
If you go North first it will reset. Have fun finding where that is

No. You get that no matter what. But it may affect a decision you have later.
Solas morrigan and companions keep walking behind me and messing up the whole thing.
Shouldn't be a problem as long as they don't bump into you.

same as many others here, on a laptop that gets pretty bad framerate in DAI, had the same problem with these puzzles. Tactic view did the trick, everything else just seems like random grasping at straws for an explanation ihmo. Time didn't seen to matter at all.

It's been resetting on me too, but I think it's a timed puzzle. That out of anything appears to be more likely, especially given how fast the above poster ran through each puzzle. The above poster with the video ran the first two puzzles in roughly a minute or just over. The third, if you notice, randomly reset a few times before they got it right, usually after they've gone roughly over 2min somewhere or when they hit a tile they'd already touched. The third puzzle appears to roughly need to be completed within 2min. I haven't tested this, as unfortunately I couldn't try to complete the puzzle due to freezing every 5sec which tends to happen if I have other processes running when trying to play Inquisition. Specifically processes that use my video card like looking over a video to ensure I'm following the correct path.
If it doesn't work when I reload, I'll try the tactics option someone else suggested. However I'm not sure how well that will work regarding that I need to jump to get around the proper way, apparently.
Anyway people on PC have been able to complete this puzzle because I know people on PC who have beaten the game, so it can't be perma bugged. It might be randomly bugged for just certain people too...that seems to be a running theme with this game thus far. However I think there's something we're not taking into account, and it's not companions. They don't activate or mess with the tiles, only the controlled character does. That much I have noticed. If you control Dorian, he'll activate the tiles instead and everyone else won't, you control your character the same, etc. etc.
Granted there is the possibility that it wasn't perma bugged until the patch came out, and with the patch the bug has only gotten worse. I'll report back once I've tested it out to be certain. Now to restart my PC and pray Inquisition doesn't want to randomly freeze and crash on me....again.
EDIT: YES IT IS A TIME PUZZLE. THERE IS YOUR ANSWER. COMPLETE THE FIRST TWO UNDER A MINUTE AND A HALF AND THE THIRD UNDER TWO AND A HALF MINUTES ROUGHLY OR SO. BASICALLY FINISH THEM FAST AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT DAMN TILE.
Gods that was tense and annoying as all out, but I finished all three puzzles and only had to repeat the second one, where before I couldn't finish them at all. And that was before the game started freezing every 5secs and I was forced to google this questline to make sure I wasn't messing something up or it wasn't bugged.
So good news? Not bugged. Bad news? Timed really short and you can't make a single mistake or you're boned. Have fun trying to run through this like an insane person, try not to have a heart attack.
If it is timed, then they must have screwed up the timing when they patched. Trust me, I can get through the puzzles on 360 very quickly without issues.
When I played this on the 360 (over and over again) I had no problems getting through the puzzles. Now I play on PC and WHAM! The puzzles time out on me. Since I've run the darned things so many times I can practically do them in my sleep, I don't think they were supposed to be this way. I wish they'd fix it because every time one of my companions yell at me for jumping down the darned hole - I want to say - "SCREAM AT BIOWARE - THEY'RE THE ONES WHO SCREWED THIS UP!!!!" Unfortunately, my companions don't know who Bioware is.

Same thing. When I played on 360 no problems running the puzzles. Now, on PC, I just give up and go down the hole. VERY FRUSTRATING!
