For anyone wondering where this mage is, his location has been moved to just north east of the shack. Fast travel to the Hessarian Camp, then head directly south, and up a hill, to find him.

Except he can spawn almost anywhere in that map.

I'd forgotten about this thread. But here's the reality of the easiest way to do it.  when you head over that way.  If you know where the cabin is go up to it and touch the door. Then just go back and forth killing the mages that spawn right in there (if you haven't cleared out their nest in the cave yet that is) and he will inevitably appear right there in those rolling hills not far from the cabin in one of the respawned mage groups right in there.  it's never taken me that long to get him because of the number of mages you get in there before you take out their little base of operations.

 

If you do this early on in your playthrough you can have the mighty offense potion from a rather early point and use it to help with a few other things that can be somewhat difficult at low level.  he's not terribly difficult if you take a couple of knockdowns or stuns into battle with you.

There is a house in apostate's landing in the storm coast (with a shard on the roof) with a locked door (non-pickable). I had found the key in a playthrough on a crazy mage yet I can't remember where he was. Has anyine found him and can you give me his location?

Basically what i think you need to do is enter the house and examine the door to noticed it's locked. This should get a "REBEL MAGE" to appear around the area (roughly around a trench). If you kill him search his corpse and you'll get the key to the house. Inside is a attack buffing potion thing you can make at your potion maker booths.

Thing is, no mages ever spawned for me aside from this one on Storm Coast 

 

So, there are more than one mage on the Storm Coast?

This is so frustrating: found the cabin, wandered around, found the mage, killed him, looted the key - and crashed to desktop. Naturally didn't have the key when I loaded the game up again, and haven't seen him since. FIX THE FRIGGIN CTDs!

The recipe will still be there, and you'll get a duplicate in your inventory screen. It doesn't really do anything. This applies to most recipes (such as runes) you can find.
