So, I am a rogue, but I have noticed Blackwall being a SnS character can keep guard up constantly through the SnS talents, whilst Iron Bull rarely gets guard at all.. is there a way for 2H warriors to get guard at all? Or is it a SnS tank bonus only?

2h warriors can get guard using Block and Slash from the 2h tree. All warriors can get guard using the talents in the vanguard tree

I don't know if the NPCs are smart enough to use Block and Slash on their own, and having them use Charge (which also gives Guard) just makes them spend all their stamina until they hit a cliff.

 

Instead, get them to use taunt a lot and, if necessary, the Unbowed skill.

There smart enough to use Block n Slash, same as there smart enough to use Shield Wall. They're not perfect at it, but get it right often enough. There better at timing it then most players when they 'do' use it at least. Easiest guard build as a 2H warrior though is War Cry, Charging Bull and Unbowed. That and guard per hit via weapons. But that requires a rare masterwork material, I think it's only +2 or +3... heard someone say they found a +5 once, and we've seen +10 per hit via a stream prior to release.

 

Anyway, that much guard per hit may seem small (it is). It can stack up since its per hit though, you'll get more in group fights then vs a single enemy and, perhaps more importantly, it will insure you always HAVE Guard on when you get hit (for the most part). Which will result in always having the 20% bonus armor or reflex dmg or whatever else.

 

Either way I'd get Iron Bull Unbowed if you want him building guard.
