Hi,

I want to do controlled "range pulls"! I´ve tried a lot but it always ends up with - as soon as controlled character finds somthing to fight - everyone else in team join the fight, no matter what? Have someone found a way do do this, controlled range pulls in this game?
(Meaning keeping ranged units back and only tanks at target. Way from the crowd of enemies.)

I thought that pulling with a ranged unit or tank while keeping the others in HOLD would work but NO!

I´ve even tried turning of AI on controlled char but as soon as he/she finds something to fight it all ends in mayhem!

What have I missed, please? Turning of AI completely is not an option for me. But please do tell if tha´ts the only way!

Overall "stick to target" seems very hard with the AI settings?

Is there no healers ingame - just portions?

And... please give us an option to add notes to map, BioWare!

Other than that it´s a completely great game!

Regards,

Mem

Is there no search option in this forum? -_- :P

I am not sure what you are trying to do with the ranged pull. If you are looking for some kind of stealth technique (hitting an enemy unexpectedly) then there's one ability that Rogue has (I don't know how it's called in Eng version of the game, I unfortunately play Ru version) which allows him/her to get invincible, get closer undetected and hit pretty hard. One more thing - if you use it before the fight starts and run through enemy crowd, your team will probably spawn right behind your back. Sometimes it works and sometimes not.

I've turned off AI's usage of abilities, and also turned off "protection" in their behavior. I use "tactical cam" with pause regularly, literally every 10-20 seconds, issuing orders every time — this helps controlling your party a lot!

No, there are no healers, just potions. And it would've been fine unless we had to transit our party to the nearest camp to resuply then run again the same area 'cause we ran out of potions during the explorations cause there are bears with an enormous amount of health (seriously people of Thedas are affraid of demons? I can deal with bunch of demons but one bear can tear apart half of my party).

Yep, there's a search option in the top right corner of the forum (right under your profile).

Thanks.

What I need to do is to pull one enemy from the crowd BACK to my party, away from a crowd of mobs - killl that one - and then range pull another one.

This is common tactics in MMORGs.  To pull this off I need my backup team to stay still do nothing but buff until tank or whatever returns with the enemy.

I might have missed something important here.

Thing about portions is bad. A world without healers? Hmmmphf.

I use this method a fair bit and it works well for me but you need to use TAC cam.

Move party to near close enough range for Grappling chain. Activate Tac Cam. Lay AOE on the ground where enemy will be pulled to, prime other party members (Poison, Stealth etc etc) With your tank , right click target then issue Grappling Chain command, click back to your PC, click Tac Cam again and BAM.

Works virtually every time.

Cool - sounds like a plan. Hope Im able to keep them from attacking the next on their own - when first is down though... Thanks.

You may also disable party AI, and attack with only one character.

Do a LoS pull, also known as body pull. Or more easily described as: hiding your ass behind the nearest rock.

In short: spam h to make your dudes hold position behind a piece of terrain. Then have one character pull and run back behind the cover. Nuke the first mobs that peek their head around the corner.

For added effect, place aoe's and traps along the path the mobs will likely travel to get to you.

It works in DAI as well, but you need to keep spamming hold position. Also, if you wander off too far from your other party members, they will come running to you regardless.

Yes I Think I got it now but were a bit confused and needed to check that I had´n´t missed out on something vital, in this game.

Running on hard and haven´t had this problem in any other game :)

Oot: I belive there should be a clearer indication on current target, at least as an option.

Swap to tactical view. Double click ground locations for your team, then move the character you want to shoot long range with.

The other three characters will not move from their positions.

but really there isn't an easy way to "Pull" Targets off a group as you can in MMOs.

You need to look at other tactics for dealing with groups, but that tip about positioning in Tactical Cam should still help.

I have also seen with archers in action camera with Stealth and arrows , you can sit just outside the detection range of what you are shooting, and they don't quite know where you are so they don't come after you.

For precision pulls (using an archer)

1 - Set target (right click on the mob you want to attack)

2 - Set your party to hold (default H on PC)

3 - Attack the target using any single-target attack (normal attack is fine) from far away.

4 - Allow the mob to close about 3/4 of the distance. (Close enough so that your party members can safely engage without aggroing the rest). Pop stealth.

5 - hit Y

It also helps if your tank has chain pull, but it's not a requirement.

Ok I found out my main problem with this. Sometimes or always (?) not really sure but if I place party, on HOLD and then pull a mob with one member - as soon as he/she pulls, the rest of the party joins in. So we need to hit HOLD again (and sometimes a lot of times) to keep them in line!
I think HOLD should override every other order!

And again, could we please get a clearer sign over current target, BioWare in a patch! And please enable private notes on maps!

Thanks for responses.
