Very pleased, though I still wish he would've gotten a longer and more epic death scene.

TBH, I felt that scene was...too short for who could be potentially left behind.

Logain leaving it up to some upstart, when redemption is within his grasp?  Not likely.

An aside:  Do they die for sure?

I just saw the Alistair role now on my replay and I have to say Loghain is just such a level of phenomenal above him that I don't think I could watch these scenes with anyone but him. The VA is excellent, but more than that, it's Loghain's dedication to his order. He plays the role of dedicated fanatic well - it's a shame that in DAO his fanaticism was misplaced.

I should add I never liked Loghain but his DAI role won me over completely.

This is why I love the keep. I never would have seen him because he never survived in my play through.

What do you mean? If Loghain stays to die, that's his redemption. Giving up his life to save others.

If he lives then he does it to rebuilt the order. Hawke straight up says it.

I suspect not, you don't actually see them die.  Just like if you killed Leliana in DAO, in DAI she actually lived was only close to death.

Maybe the expansion of DAI, a FREE DLC expansion to pay for their sins of an incomplete game will have some epic quest where the hero, loghain, or whoever was left in the fade is brought out, etc.

He got hot though, jeebus.

He's gotta be somewhere in his sixties now, and he has less grey than I do.

Given Loghain didn't have to appear, I'm glad he did. I just wish he didn't suffer from short hair syndrome.

This is exactly the reason I asked.

Surprise cameo for DA:4?  Wouldn't be too surprising, IMO...

Ah, but that wasn't point.  I play objectively, for the most part.

In his OWN eyes, without knowing what would happen in the future, wouldn't he see that as a prime chance for redemption?  To restore his good name?  Would he trust that Hawke, given his/her previous "successes" could properly perform?

Always liked that Logain wasn't a "bad guy".  He was just a "success at all costs" guy.

I enjoyed seeing him again. Would of been interesting to get the survivor as a party member but I can understand why they didn't. I do wish he had some on screen interaction with leliana or morrigan since they could both be in party in origins. Also would of liked to see an interaction between him and anora/Alistair.

But for what he was in I liked it. I liked how he was stated as the one person that they never really accepted as one of the wardens and here he is saving all their asses. Oh and its just fun to see how long I can keep the initial bad guy from origins alive.

The dialogue wheel choice text actually tries to leave it vague, saying "they will likely die", but not outright confirm it, so there is a small chance that whoever stays behind might survive and are wandering lost in the Fade, though I'd be very surprised if BW went that way (I wouldn't like it myself).

For the last time, that was not Loghain.

That was William Dafoe.

Nah, the one trapped in the fade is going to starve to death and be replaced by a spirit replica that we'll run into when we end up going back to the fade for whatever reason. So if you left Hawke or Alistair you'll end up with this spirit that tells awful jokes.

Loghain is superior to Alistair in Inquisition imo. He suits the role of renegade Grey Warden far better than Alistair.

Nah I'm sure they'd be able to feast of that spider thing for a while or find some funky fade mushrooms. Maybe they'll end up like origins crazy old hermit.

Oh, I wasn't saying I'd enjoy the decision, just feels like something Bioware would attempt to do to be "clever" or, simply because they can (as per Leliana...or Anders...)

I never understood why the chose to potentially revive Anders for DA2...it literally could have been any other mage that merged with Justice.

I think the one left behind gets to be a meatsuit for the nightmare demon. But that's beside the point.

I cannot even express how ecstatic I was to see Loghain in this game. It seemed like most of the post-DAO content was taking the evil-Loghain-the-usurper voice, so I was shocked that this game actually seemed to emphasize his better qualities. They way they handled this character in DAI is, without question, the best part of the entire game for me.

It also made me insane that I could not think of a reason the Inquisitor I was playing would choose him over Hawke.

Never liked Loghain and I never will, but I'm glad his fans approve of his use in this game.

That is very kind of you. Thank you! :D

Because of what Flemeth said to Hawke in DA2, I still hold on to the belief that Hawke was destined to "leap into the abyss." For that reason I always leave him/her behind.

Loghain has always been one of my favourite Dragon Age characters, and one of my favourite BioWare villains. Although I've yet to start a playthrough in which he's alive, I'm excited to see him again. The guy looks like he's had it.

Alistair gets into a hissy fit if you let him live then he decides to become a drunk. I always love his voice in Dragon Age Origins. Maybe in a future playthough I will let him become a warden.

It was great to see Loghain again. His devotion to the wardens really showed how much he has grown as a character.

The irony that he got more screentime than King Alistair was hilarious.
