So I have tried and tired in the character creator and just can't seem to make a human male I like. (I tend to make a character for every option then come back to em later)

You are NOT the only one. I reset my Elven male rogue like at least 30 times :/. I'm really a BAD designer. It would be nice if people can share their head designs. This is where it suxs when you don't have mod.

 

Otherwise, i would really like Bioware giving us default Shepard which i love alot because he looks handsome enough for me!.

I felt the same way about female elves. I remade and remade my elf mage so many times before saying screw it and moving on, despite being slightly unhappy with it. I nailed my human male archer in one go, and am quite happy with how he turned out as a rugged, good woodsman sort.

Anyway, I've yet to try and make a human character, but I have this problem with male elves. Can't do it. Can't make 'em look good, don't know why. I did however manage to make one hot-ass male dwarf, which surprised me. After DAO I never thought I'd see the day

There are a couple of great hairstyles, but I am hoping they release a hair packet within a DLC of sorts.

For the Human males I gave up and went with long hair and biggest beard.  Problem solved.

I'm not talking about the hairstyle itself but how it looks in-game, the buzz cuts look like they're simply painted on a diffuse map which is absolutely horrendous when put next to a nice looking face with good skin shaders and all the pretty next-gen stuff.

You are not the only one.. I lost account of how many characters I lost while trying to create Inquisitor Siberious Vaako.

 

 

His face bone structure is somewhat within acceptable range to achieve with what the game offers you to tweak but alas, I had no success - To me the eyes are a problem and I did not managed to make his cheeks as sleek as they are supposed to be. (Also this is a shameless stealth request for someone to create him for me  ) .

For me, I just made a big fat-headed idiot looking guy. I love that they included a double chin. Trashquisitor is straight out of the trailer parks of Ostwick, yo. He wins hearts with his sense of humor and enormous staff.

If you feel like really nerding out google some tutorials for drawing portraits. Will give you some pointers of what to keep in mind when trying to get proportions right, it's reeeealy easy to mess them up and just moving something and cm here or there can make a diffirence.

The guys and gals that create smexy avatars are usually people who like to draw or are just generally visually minded and have a nack for noticing stuff like that.

I just did it, I recreated Loghain. This is going to be super awkward when we meet later on in the game but I'm happy

I created a fairly handsome, tan male human warrior. If I can do it, you guys/gals can. I have no skills with creating a custom face, but I got lucky perhaps. Damn, it took a lot of time though. I usually don't trust my ability to create a good looking face. Hence, in DA2, I went with default male Hawke. However, it seems to me that the default male Hawke is chubbier and uglier in DAI compared to DA2.

 

DAI's default male human Inquisitor was not handsome enough for me, so I had to change it. I was planning on a couple of tweaks here and there. Once I started making changes, one thing led to another and I ended up with a quite different looking Inquisitor.

You should try using a reference when doing the CC. If you're not good at art it can help get the facial proportions how you want them.
