Actually David Gaider has said before that certain things were taken out of the script because they could have been misinterpreted as rape.

So basically rape does not exist in the Dragon Age universe anymore, nor does even the suggestion of rape or even anything that can be vaguely misinterpreted as a form of rape.
That isn't what that blog post says at all. They took a situation that could be misinterpreted as rape out of the plot. It was not their intention to make it look like rape, but apparently it did, which was a bad thing because that piece of writing obviously did not get across what they wanted to get across. If Bioware wanted to put a plot in referencing sexual assault, then they would (as we can see with the city elf origin, broodmothers, etc). But an abundance of rape does not make a story "darker" or more "realistic", and it's rather juvenile to think that it does.
How so? The place where the first game took place (Ferelden) is based on England, which was more or less 100% White/Caucasian during the period, the second game (apart from the prologue which was set in Ferelden) took place in the Free Marches (Kirkwall), which are likely based on Switzerland, which was more or less 100% White/Caucasian during the period, the third game is set in Ferelden and Orlais, which is based on France, which again was more or less 100% White during the period, etc.
