Firstly, I'm a huge fan of the entire Dragon Age exception, and this one is no different. I pre-ordered in June, and on the last part of last week I spent about 48 hours metaphorically peeing myself with excitement to get tucked in! So far I've not been dissapointed. The game is a masterpiece!
However, I do have a concern that doesn't seem to be addressed anywhere else.
In the lead up, much of the hype surrounded the size of the maps. Some articles even went so far as to 'sensationalize' that every map is bigger than all the areas in DA:O (i.e. this one http://gamingbolt.co...n-age-origins).This seems like a pretty ridiculous statement. At this point I've visited Haven, hinterlands, storm coast, fallow mire, val royeaux and the forbidden oasis. Of all these maps, only the hinterlands seems potentially worthy of the claim. For the rest, both the urn of sacred ashes and the nature of the beast, to my recollection, have bigger areas alone (granted, the maps are smaller and separated, but the areas are bigger).
It could be that my memory is distant (though I did replay both DAO and DA2 earlier this year) but this claim does seem a little hyped. Are there any other areas the size of the hinterlands, or a similar size, later in the game? I've cleared both the storm coast and 'most' of forbidden oasis and the fallow mire, will they replenish later in the game with new quests? Or am I practically done with them?
It's not a huge deal, I'd favour the quality over the quantity, though I don't know if perhaps I'm missing something. I guess my concern is that I'm closer to the end of the game than I'd like to think ![]()
