I'm experiencing a weird bug, where my dalish mage is discussing human mage stuff with npcs and companions. She's been telling other characters about her experiences in the Ostwick Circle, and calling herself Trevelyan and stuff. I haven't been able to find any other posts on the subject, but I can't be the only one experiencing this?

It seems to be a 'bug' in the Character Creator where the back-end software only picks up the default(?) character options even though the front-end UI clearly shows the choices you think you're picking. I had it with my Female Qunari Archer that the game decided (in parts, i.e. Josephine & armour race restrictions) was a Human DW Rogue. So far* (afaik) the only fix is to re-create the character from scratch but selecting/deselecting your choices a number of times before moving on so the CC properly recognises the gender/race/class you really want.

*Until BW issue a patch/fix though whether it will work retrospectively on existing Inquisitors is anyone's guess.

Sometimes being indecisive is rewarded. I pretty much always flip between the options before settling on one anyway. :P

I can see how that sort of bug would be immersion breaking. Hopefully they'll get the first patch out soon, and fix it.

What is the earliest point in the game when we can check to see if we have this bug?

It shows up even sooner if you're playing a male character, because Cass and Leliana will discuss you using female pronouns.

Though, when I first played, I thought they were talking about someone else.

yeah, i just rerolled my dalish mage because, at level 14, the specialist trainers that showed up were rogue trainers.

While i want my mage to be flexible, I thought that was a bit too far to go...

The earliest spot you can find the bug, if you have sharp eyes, is in Wrath of Heaven when Cassandra tanks the spirit while you are unarmed, and you look around for a convenient weapon.  In hindsight, I realize that there was a bow there, which then morphed into a staff.  A visual clue I didn't realize at the time was any more than a glitch.

For a Qunari Inquisitor, there's some Vitaar in the Wrath of Heaven prologue you can loot after the collapsing bridge that you either will or won't be able to equip depending on what race the game recognises you as.
