Totally random subject, just wondering if anybody else has noticed the same as me.

Running 1440p, everything maxed on Ultra. I'm currently using Post Processing AA (FXAA) that is in the game along with 2x MSAA.

Apart from the FPS hit MSAA throws at you - Between 2x being on or off I literally cannot tell the slightest bit of difference at 1440p whilst using Post Processing AA.

Anybody else noticed if it does anything at all except steal your frames at these settings?

Certain scenes I can see a difference around the edges but I admit I have to STARE to notice it.

Gopher mentioned it helped him in his testing phase, and I also chose to use it earlier to smooth edges. My recommendation to save FPS is to reduce Effects Quality to Low settings; provides more natural appearing FX with less shine. This not only lessened the distractive FX, but boosted FPS and aided immersion for me.

I would just use one or the other.  MSAA if you can spare the frames, post-processing if you cant.

Tbh PP looks good enough to justify not using MSAA

I'm running an i7 4820k and an EVGA GTX 980 with Nvidia G-Sync on an Asus ROG Swift 27" Monitor - Therefore frames aren't a huge worry to me because G-Sync runs smooth, always - however I know AMD is a little better suited with this title for FPS straight off.

My mind -wants- to keep both on, most probably being a placebo effect thinking it looks better, when truly I can't tell at the current moment.

1440p really puts the hurt on fps in this game, moreso than most in my case. I can run it with all settings ultra, fade touched textures and 4xmsaa @ 1080p with the same frames as 1440p no AA shadows and tesselation down to high and textures at ultra instead of fade touched. Usually the jump from 1080p to 1440p isnt such a drastic hit.

But ya I cant run any AA @ 1440p and I hate how post process AA blurs the image...

Post processing AA works great at relatively high resolutions, in fact it's basically impossible to tell the difference in IQ between x2/x4 MSAA and a good postprocessing algorithm like SMAA T2x at 3840×2160 (while the performance gap is absolutely brutal).

I'd stick to postprocessing only for anything over 1080p.

The problem with the effects setting is that while abilities might look better at lower settings other things like fire end up looking disgusting.

I've tinkering a bit and so far the best results (imo) are everything maxed with post processing at the lowest to remove motion blur, I've been thinking about using SweetFX to desaturate the game a bit but I haven't tried it yet.

I believe that flames look more realistic on EQ Low settings. Fires may not be as detailed, but they do not glow with overt intensity either. And when bolting through a burning building, I rarely stop for screenshots.

I'm playing with everything on Ultra and MSAA off, the game honestly doesn't look much different. GTX 970 card here.

The post-process AA is decent, but there is still noticeable aliasing on a lot of edges without MSAA. In some scenes and in motion it can be highly annoying when you get that "crawling" effect on the aliased objects. But still, it's probably not worth losing a lot of frames for MSAA. It's a nice bonus, but the game looks good regardless.

Hoping for a fix for SLI issues soon so I can crank it up fully. That bright white fog is unbearable. :3

This is great advice, thanks.
