Is it possible to reclaim DLC? 

 

Dissapointed with the low stats of the light armor of the dragon and lack of upgrade slots (therefore leading to my assumption that it couldn't be upgraded) I sold it.

I later read that it could be upgraded later on in the game.

 

Is there any way to get it back? I went back to the merchant where I sold it, but frustratingly, everything I'd sold to him had already gone :-(

I guess the only way is with a new character...

You will get shematics for crafting higher lvl versions of that armor/weapons later in the game.(first tier 2 and later tier 3 versions at different points in the story)
