Yes!  This is why we need an itemized list of things the developers see as issues to be fixed/patched in.

Are you implying that the developers aren't competent enough to record any issues they discover via word of mouth or otherwise and set a priority check list?

Please fix the voice bug. Please fix the voice bug. Please fix the voice bug. Please fix the voice bug. Please fix the voice bug.

I refuse to progress the story until it's fixed and I've been stuck like this since Friday.... Please fix it! I'm BEGGING you. I can deal with the audio cutting out, or the mouse forgetting it's there sometimes for clicking. Just let me talk to Varric, do the thing I want to do, keep my american accented elf, and plaaay.

Thanks BioWare!

lol, good try.

I am saying that we should know what they think are issues, to make sure it is comprehensive.  I don't even care about priority of the issues right now.

Yeah too many of them right? Voice bug, bad tac cam, bad AI, bad cutscene fps/stability, bad pc/keyboard/mouse interface, no option to run on the pc are the ones that quickly come to mind.

Only 8 action bar slots, but that seems to be the way they want it to be, pretty sad.

I saw the thread title and wondered what announcement I missed.

The game has been out a week. I'm sure they'll give us a list of things fixed and a date when they know themselves.

Prefer they get it right, instead of a rushed release that breaks more things than it solves.

Fair enough. :)

Wow, I didn't know this was a thing. Good thing I used the default voice on my Quiz.

Oh, and if we're throwing things in the pot for improvement, all I really need is a ranged AI option and I'll be happy. Sick of Sera running up to people to shoot them. As it stands now I can have her hold position further back, but a ranged AI option would be great for hard/nightmare runs.

The team is hard at work on patching, and we'll provide more information as soon as we can. Unfortunately until the release is finalized I can't provide any more information, and it would be a disservice to you and the team for me to provide incomplete information. I will update you as soon as possible, and appreciate your patience.

Is there any news on an update for NVIDIA cards perchance?

To be frank it is kind of a disservice to provide no information (which is what you are doing now).  Can you at least list out everything your team sees as problems to be solved?  No time frames involved there, just acknowledgement of issues.

Edit: Forgot to add, thanks for at least participating in the forums.  I know it is easier to just not post at all.

well no because then people will complain about X being more important than Y, while others complain vice versa. Heavens forbid they forgot to mention Z and leave it off the list.

Gamers have created this way of silence around dev suff because as soon as one mentions something, some part of the community uses that as fuel for whatever their 'fire' is.

At first, when it happened to me, I was all "eh, no biggie".  But as the game continues I really can't stand my characters new voice.

Priority is up the devs, let them keep that to themselves.  But a comprehensive list must be given, or you will still have chaos.  If they leave something off the list then yeah, people should make sure they know about it.

A list "must" be given? That sounds extreme for an entertainment product, it's not like this is life or death. I would stay away from demanding things, you may be well meaning, but the only result will be alienating the dev's from the audience. as soon as rudeness overtakes polite conversation, everyone loses.

Whatever patch they bring out, people will still be ticked off one way or another, as it may not address their 'thing'

They just need to decide what they consider are game breakers & focus on that, cosmetic stuff could come last on the list.

Oh please.  Get off your high horse.  Do you know what will happen when (because it is looking more and more like it) they just go ahead and release a patch w/o telling us beforehand what will be in it, and then it is missing the things people are already raging over?

The easiest way to avoid the rage is to release all known issues/acknowledged issues, and let discussion happen from there.  If people don't see their pet issue, they will let the devs know.  This is patch PR 101.

Agreed, priority is up to the devs, no doubt.  But acknowledgement of issues, come on.  Ignoring stuff does not make it go away.

They've acknowledged them. They just haven't made it public. Patch notes are only released a few days before release, if not the day of release.

This is normal for all developers, unless beta-testing is involved. As far as I know, there isn't since these are all fixes that need little user input.

They also shouldn't release any info on what they are planning to fix, because you know what's worse than an unannounced patch? Announcing that you are going to fix something by X date and not being able to do it. Then it turns into "BW lied to us!!!" No, they should stay quiet until the patch content is finalized

Edit: besides, all I would like to see is people acting rational, and being patient. A rushed patch could make things worse.

I agree, perhaps the answer will be, this is what we are doing now, this is what we are going to do next, a list would be helpful and maybe a bit of commentary about why they choose those fixes over others would be nice.

Like for me the voice thing, yea annoying as hell, yet it would not actually stop you from progressing as such, your tank running off or your ranged insistent on becoming 'warriors for the day' would more potentially stop game progression, especially on hard or nightmare modes.

I bet what may happen is though the next patch, will have unintended knock on effects and we will have to have another patch, to fix this one, before starting the next one lol!

Seeing as I work for a software company, I can tell you that it is not normal.  You acknowledge the issues your customers are having, then you prioritize them (internally if you want) and release patches to fix them (on your timetable).

Patch notes are different.  They tell the customers what are in the patch, not the comprehensive list of known issues for a release.

And what they have acknowledged is a very very very high level tiny list of issues:

  • Driver support
  • Hitching and frame rate issues in cutscenes
  • Feedback on keyboard and mouse controls
  • General user interface optimizations for PC

The last two are almost meaningless without details.

I'm unsure how many times I have to say it, but priority is up to the devs.  Let them announce what to fix at what time, of course.  But they should acknowledge all of the issues that they know about and will eventually fix (or not fix).

They could handle it the same way they handled the Keep beta - with a posted list of Known Issues - then we'd know what problems they knew about and acknowledged as worth fixing.

Or is there some PR angle that makes that untenable?

It is the best way forward.  Own up to what they see as issues to fix.  That at least tells people what they don't see as an actual problem (i.e. limited ability slots, limited tactics, whatever).

Oooooooh. You want "known issues".

Pardon me. It's late here.

Don't those need more time to be collated though? Most complaints do boil down to those 4. You want more detail?

Won't hurt, but I don't see the need. They're general enough to placate most people.

You do realize that a bug being seen is not the same as a bug being corrected don't you?

Assuming they failed at QAing because some bug is still in the game is simply assuming that bugs get corrected as soon as they are detected, because we all know that making games, specially 180 hour content games, is just easy like that....

As this poster (perhaps unwittingly) suggests, it is most likely that they were aware of the bug, found it too hard to fix before release, and decided to release the game anyway, because releasing a somewhat buggy game was decided to be a better move than delaying the release.

After all, most people nowadays are cool with buggy games on release.
