Oooooooh. You want "known issues".

Pardon me. It's late here.

Don't those need more time to be collated though? Most complaints do boil down to those 4. You want more detail?

Won't hurt, but I don't see the need. They're general enough to placate most people.

Collated through?  Sure, and seeing as it would just be a list, it would be quite easy to add to, or even remove from, at their leisure.

Yeah, some real detail would help.  Seeing as what they might see as a fix for "General user interface optimizations for PC" (for example) might be something wholly different from what the community sees as a fix.

I would love to see alot of items in game fixed. But its their job to fix it, not mine. I am not a dev, I am a seamstress.  So i ahve no fing idea of what they need to do first or what they can do.  All we can do is wait, so let them do their job.

As this poster (perhaps unwittingly) suggests, it is most likely that they were aware of the bug, found it too hard to fix before release, and decided to release the game anyway, because releasing a somewhat buggy game was decided to be a better move than delaying the release.

After all, most people nowadays are cool with buggy games on release.

People nowadays need to get a grip.

Games are software...incredibly complex software. A game of DAis scope takes years to make.
Sometimes bugs slip through..even big ones. Do you really think time solves all bugs without proper testing. Do you know how expensive testing is?

Even the most well designed and tested systems can fail. Just ask Antares.

Its proper business sense to release a game with a few bugs rather than try to find and solve them all. Game companies would go broke.

Unless of course you want them to return to the complexity of Mario Kart.

Why the hostility? I stated facts. Unless you'd like to claim that it is impossible to release a modern game without replicable game-breaking bugs.

While I personally detest a company releasing a partially unfinished product, I understand that there are powerful financial incentives to do so. Doesn't mean I have to like it, or agree with it.

Are they replicable? There has been wild variance in feedback, most often by the PC community because of the PCs mutable nature.

And sure you don't have to like or agree with it. Expecting otherwise is simply unrealistic and can only put you down.

I am okay with 99% of the current state of bugs but i say a giant NO thanks to the voice change and corrupted saves others have been experiencing. Still no ETA on patch. Gonna roll a new toon until I can progress. Sigh.

I had a bug last night with The Trouble With Darkspawn quest preventing me from completing it. I defeat the person it wants me to defeat and it didn't complete or update the quest at all. Something preventing the flag from triggering I guess.

Like lastspawn said above, they release games prior to them being finished properly for financial reasons. Bioware aren't the only ones that do it, but this game is riddled with them and it's not like they have missed a few things here and there, there are issues everywhere.

Unfortunately they are allowed to get away with it.

As for it being "proper business sense" that it very debatable and it isn't just a "few bugs".

The games pretty decent but very annoying for lots of people for many different reasons.

Here's 1 small example of the many for you.

http://www.dragonage...tor?race=qunari and the game state Qunari racial as a 10% defense against Melee and it was confirmed by Mike Laidlaw via twitter yet i found out today from posters here that in fact it is actually 25% B)

Seeing as I work for a software company, I can tell you that it is not normal. You acknowledge the issues your customers are having, then you prioritize them (internally if you want) and release patches to fix them (on your timetable).
.

Since you're playing the "I'm in the industry and this is how we do it" card, can you point me to a company actually doing what you're proposing? I can't remember a comprehensive list of bugs that may or may not be fixed in the future being released by any developer, game or otherwise.

Edit: ital added. I can think of plenty of instances of companies acknowledging individual major issues, but I didn't think that was what was being proposed.

Plenty of (open source) projects have public bugzillas. I am not sure if any companies have the same for their softwares.

The team is hard at work on patching, and we'll provide more information as soon as we can. Unfortunately until the release is finalized I can't provide any more information, and it would be a disservice to you and the team for me to provide incomplete information. I will update you as soon as possible, and appreciate your patience.

I don't want to come across as antagonistic, but I really don't think it would be a disservice to provide some sort of time frame would it? Knowing whether it's likely to take weeks rather than days, or vice versa, would be kind of nice.

Right. Yeah, I was only thinking of corporate stuff. The whole point of open source is that our problem is your problem so you can help solve it, right?

Hopefully PS3 and XBOX360 patches are coming soon as well since those are very needed.

A graphics patch for the PC would be nice too.. That game is not maximizing the PC resources efficiently

Also, make that patch fix where the voice accent of the Main Character changes if you customize Hawke. My American accent changed into British after meeting hawke. Turns out its a glitch that makes your character go to the default voice if you customize Hawke.

A patch to fix the game not running in fullscreen on laptops would be wonderful. I have to play in windowed fullscreen until actual fullscreen is fixed.

Seeing as I work for a software company, I can tell you that it is not normal.  You acknowledge the issues your customers are having, then you prioritize them (internally if you want) and release patches to fix them (on your timetable).

Patch notes are different.  They tell the customers what are in the patch, not the comprehensive list of known issues for a release.

And what they have acknowledged is a very very very high level tiny list of issues:

  • Driver support
  • Hitching and frame rate issues in cutscenes
  • Feedback on keyboard and mouse controls
  • General user interface optimizations for PC

The last two are almost meaningless without details.

Part of the problem, I'm sure, is that they're essentially dealing with multi-platform patch issues in terms of prioritization. There are going to be general patches necessary across all systems and system-specific patches that (like PC UI) that might be very work-intensive but have low reach. So there's decisions that have to be made at a high level on the business side before the programmer portion of the team sit down and start fixing.

Scary to think how potentially bug ridden the game may have been without that extra month. Just a thought....,

Reading some of your posts one would think that the game is buggy mess and barely worth playing...which might indeed be true (the bugs not the game worthiness), but you have pointed only a few bugs so far....

...the no walk/run key on PC is indeed strange as there is walking animation on consoles and should be easy fix...

Personally I would like fixes for when some conversations stop and refuse to go unless I skip to the next part. Also at the end of my romance with Josephine my Qunary was shrinked to the size of a human...not game breaking but still:)

..oh and when fighting with one dragon from one point on my fps nearly died (I am on Xbox one). Which was strange as up to that point it didn't have a problem with alot of effects at the same time etc. But it was a very long fight....I wonder what happened (after the fight ended the game continued to run perfectly).

What ever happened to the day one patch?? Did I download it without realizing?

I am pretty sure you did not as I had my game ready to go and it didn't download anything or if it did it was very secret downloading  )

Bumping this for great justice. FIX THE GOD DAMN VOICE BUG.

I've officially been blocked for a week. If no update tomorrow I'm just gonna roll with the default. Thanks bioware. $70 and a pivotally awesome moment ruined. Still.

There could at least be a sticky about using the default voices for now.

Yes I'm mad. I'm tired of side quests.
