Am I at the end?

I'm very confused at the moment. It seems to early in the game to be the last story quest, since I've only played for about 50 hours (and most reviewers said it took 70-85 hours to get through the main story), and the 15-19 recommended level range for What Pride Had Wrought (quest in the Arbor Wilds) seems too low for the final quest....but the description implies its the final quest, and when I clicked on it, I got a cutscene that seemed on the "final battle" level of epic-ness.

So what I really just want to know is - should I be treating this like it's my final quest and complete all my follower quests/get all good gear I want for the final battle before I do this operation? Or do I get to come back to Skyhold again before the final battle and finish all my preparations then?

I'm just looking for a simple, non-spoilery answer please.

There is one more quest after the Arbor Wilds.

So I can still finish up my companion quests and such after Arbor Wilds?

The final quest is very explicit about being the final story quest, just like in Dragon Age II.

I'm level 19 (almost 20) and I still have a lot of stuff to do in the worlds (I've only killed 4 dragons) but the Arbor Wilds quest says the recommended levels are 15 to 19. Is the What Pride Had Wrought quest the final battle and then there's a little quest after that to finish things off? Or is it the quest after that that is the more important? Because it really seems like I'm at the end and there's going to be this big battle and it sucks because I feel like I'm only halfway through when it comes to side quests and finding the best stuff. I think I'm going to ignore the recommended levels and do almost everything there is to do before the Arbor Wilds. I don't know... opinions?

That's what I'm doing.  I am at level 18? and haven't even done the story quest to save the empress.

Yeah, I should've done that too. The main storyline feels so short, I was a bit shocked that I was already at the end and had still so much to do in the worlds. Now I'm going to have to spend the rest of the game exploring every corner without doing anything to actually further the main story. Sigh..

I kind of wish you had to finish something like the shard quest to complete the main game, or at least complete it well. That would then force you to do most stuff.

I had the same issue, with lots of things to explore after storyline on regular game playthrough.  Doing Nightmare now and seems like I gotta hunt down every xp, craft, gold and perk that I can to progress the story and not get stuck on a mainline quest at a boss with four or less heals left.

Agreed. Many side quests take a fairly significant amount of effort and it seems odd that so few of them are stagegates or at least more central to the main plot.

Took me close to 115 hours to finish the entire game, clearing all the areas and completing all quests. Ended up on level 25. Still do not have all the mosaic pieces (1 or two missing from 4 of them, finished one completely though), a handful of banner pieces are missing, and some mounts are still ? even though I have purchased every mount in the game including the 10000 gold chest mounts. I also am missing only 1 region in the exalted plains.. apparently a lot of other people are in the same boat though.. so I have considered this my 100% completion playthrough.. even though technically I am missing a couple things but I cannot be bothered grinding for hours trying to find something that gives me nothing.

All I can say is that the story keeps ending, even at the beginning. At Haven I recall saying "this ends now!" And again in every chapter.

There is no sense of 'when the story will end' because it's always ending....

I am at 100 hours. The last story quest takes a power of 40. Try more side quest. Kill dragons and check out the card game. Have you done that yet?
I am hoping for some DLC quest.

I finished the game in 37h and 42min and I didn't even visit all areas in the game had lvl 17 didn't have any crafting material from tier 4 and had around 3 mounts... Well I thought it will be much longer, also I don't get the thing with fortresses. First how can there be only 3 ?! Didn't they say that every area will have fortress ? Also no one attacked my captured 2 fortresses. And no customization of them or sieging of enemies fortresses (except the prescripted one).

I am also missing a region in Exaled plains and 1 mosiac in a few left. I am giving up trying for now. I also have 3 bottles left I can not find. I think the region is Fort Revasik as its supposed to have fast travel there and mine is completed, all missions turbned in, but I have no FT available.

While it's possible to put the story on hold after Arbor Wilds and go finish up your other stuff, I wouldn't recommend it. The final mission plays very much like it's meant to happen straight after getting back from the wilds; if you postpone it, you'll lose that sense of urgency. If possible, do all your other quests before hitting Arbor Wilds, and then do the final mission immediately afterwards.
