Fortunately I didn't have Varric in my party at the time. I don't know that I would have been able to handle it.

Its good that the game can stir up such emotions. That's how you know the game's story is good, in my opinion.

I couldn't deal with it either, so Loghain stayed behind. Made me even sadder but at least Varric didn't lose anybody. I miss Loghain.....

I had to pick between my Hawke... or Alistair, my Warden's love of 10+ years. Couldn't bring myself to sacrifice Alistair, so I left Hawke behind in the Fade. Never do I ever want to experience that again, so I had to change my beloved DAO canon by making Alistair King and changing my Amell Warden to a Cousland so they could marry, since I don't like the idea of hardening him and being his mistress. I wasn't best pleased, I can assure you, lol.

Poor Varric! That's going to upset him, but this Hawke was one who was in love with Anders and executed him. For her, staying behind isn't going to upset her that much. She's a sad panda anyhow. Varric, on the other hand ...

... never have I been more relieved that my Amell Warden hardened Alistair, made him king, and became his mistress. I would *never* have been able to choose between Alistair and my beloved Iain Hawke. It would not have happened. I would have had to abandon the game and start over with a new import.

I very nearly did, but I was so far in already, made tons of terrible mistakes and I wanted to know what happened in the story next... plus, Cullen, LOL!

I don't think I could ever do that to Hwake, Varrice 9r Hawkes LI. The only time I could see it happening is if Alistair was there and was my Wardens boo, but for Loghain who I only tolerate or Stroud who I barley know or care about hell no.

You don't have to sacrifice anything at all. Stick to your canon and suck it up. You set the world on the course, now see it through.

It makes me very sad, but no way I would miss that perfect opportunity to let Hawke die. After she says Corypheus is mine I just could not deny her that. Still tears me up. Say goodbye to Varric for me

My first play through, Alistair was my Warden--talk about trying to make a stressful choice? I left him in the fade, and couldn't take it, replayed and left Hawke...and then there was Varrick!

Thank gawd my main playthrough had a romanced Alistair as king, because I could not give two flying sh!ts about Stroud and wondered why everyone in the game kept harping on about him being dead.  No way was I killing Hawke.  Now I know to prepare or avoid at all costs a playthrough that pits Warden!Alistair against a Hawke I like...

My world state didn't import properly my first time through so I was stuck with default hawke and stroud. My second time through, though... I don't know what I'll do! D:
