For me its First Enchanter Vivienne. Im a female human mage and she treats me like her child. WTF?

Does anyone actually like Vivienne?

100% same here.

However i think she was not a bad designed character. I just can't stand her attitude.

Agree she is well written but too snobbish for me.

Solas.  He's like the movie archetypical mother-in-law, disapproving of everything you do.

Lets see:

Least favorite:  Sara and Blackwall.  Kicked Sara from Inquisition first chance I got.

Most favorite:  Vivienne.  Wish I could let her go all KE on Blackwall.

Sure but you owe a lot to him.He is actually one of the most important characters in the series.

I'm surprised Cole not being named more often. He just annoys me so much with all that gibberish and that emo face. I even regret accept him in my party in first place.

Vivienne is a love-hate relationship for me. She's in bad terms with my female mage elf inquisitor but I lreally like her b*itchy ( Sera's words) attitude... If you pick up the Knight Enchanter specialization she will tell you "you have your moments, my dear." Funny!

Sera. Because it's Sera.

I was going to name Cole, but people have told me to play the Templar quest, so I'll withhold judgement. I don't hate him, persay, he's just really weird for my tastes.

Vivienne, despite being the witchy character, is actually a GOOD witchy character.

Dorian is the best character, though, no questions asked.

I liked everyone, sue me.

I'm maybe 35 hours into the game, eating up time doing sidequests, and I agree. It's surprising to me, really.

Even more surprising is the fact that I like Cullen. I pitied and disliked him in DA:O and hated him in DA2, so I started this game biased against him. Now I'm about to freaking romance him because he's just so damned adorable and likeable, despite having planned to romance Iron Bull the first time through. IB is awesome, though. And hilarious, lol. He and Solas are my favorite companions that follow me around.

I don't really hate any of them.

I like some more than others.

But never dislike.

Probably Sera and Vivienne.

But that's because I didn't talk to them much.

Loved the "yes, my dear" from Vivienne, though. It's awesome.

, he's not as funny or attractive as he thinks he is

I'd go gay for Dorian.

I'd let him tickle my butthole with his moustache.

That's how gay I'd go for that dude.

He's glorious.

Well, sorry to disappoint but I did not "hate" any of the characters of the game.

Sometimes I'm not on the "same wavelength", I disagree or "disapprove" sometimes, yes. But overall I do not hate any of them. In fact I like them all but for different reasons. I also always take into consideration that my point of view isn't the same as my own protagonist's. In other words I role-play, meaning that my Inquisitor might end up "hating" one character, but I as the player do not. For example, my second (alternative, non-canon) Warden in Origins absolutely hated Morrigan (but I myself think that she was brilliantly-written, and voiced too, and still is the case in DA:I).

I think that the only BioWare-made character that I as a player actually sort of ever disliked was Jack in Mass Effect 2 (she was alright in ME3), but that's about it really.

Who did I not like?

1) Vivienne - horrible character and horribly written

2) Cole - simply didn't care for him and his story, but was better written than Viv - fun fact, he made me forget about him too rather often...

3) Sera - annoying, annoying, innit??

4) Cassandra - was actually okay after a while, but we never really clicked.

5) Varric - call me a blasphemer, I don't care. DA2 Varric was great, but DA:I Varric managed to lose most of his appeal. Much less sass and all. Hard to pin down exactly.

I'm gonna weigh in here, and my criteria will be based on two things:

  • Did I dislike the character personality and their banter/dialogues?
  • How often did I leave them behind and neglect to take them with me on missions.

Cole:

I disliked this character immensely.  He reminded me of Elmo from Sesame Street, whom I also detest.  The fake child-like innocence schtick just pissed me off.  He was, as we in the tabletop roleplaying community refer to, a shallow crayon-eater persona.  We see these a LOT in LARPs where someone thinks if they grab a plush toy, a blankie, and talk like an immature child or do 'weird stuff', that they are 'roleplaying'.  There's no real sense of original character there.

I took Cole out for a spin three times.  Once upon recruitment, and twice more after unlocking his Assassin specialization.  All three times he sucked rubber balls and ended up wasting my healing potions and repeatedly dying in battle.   He's just not very good and contributes nothing to the party composition that a mage or archer cannot do better.

You built him as Dual Wield instead of Archer your first mistake because Archer-Assassin is strong.

I'm simfamSP.

People who know me will know that the above isn't even my final form.

Spoiler

And that's just silly nonsense.

But seriously though.

Dorian is glorious in every way possible.

Dorian. His arrogance and narcissism were really grating and I didn't think he was any bit as funny as people make him out to be. Not only that, but his personal quest was extremely cliché and predictable. I expected much from him when I first saw his concept arts, but the minute I heard Gaider wrote him, I braced myself for massive disappointment.

I'm also not a huge fan of Iron Bull, but he just bored me compared to the annoyance I felt from Dorian.

Dorians great when you learn more about him, he acts arrogant to deflect, once you meet his Father though, you actually want to give the guy a big warm hug.

My least favorite right now is probably Blackwall, not because I don't like him, but because he's probably the only one that doesn't really pull me in like the others.

Heck I even like talking to Viv, her views on Mages and Templars are incredibly interesting and despite her being a proud mage whom values her status, she's a pretty deep character.

I'd be surprised. The worst thing is that she talks nonsense and you can;t call her out on it. The scene where she, for some reason, blames you for staying at Haven is just bizarre!

As far as I can tell, the first comments she makes at Skyhold depend on her approval. I had high enough approval that instead of this, she shows concern for the Inquisitor and tells her to wash up so she doesn't frighten the faithful, which I found amusing.

In what way is Cassandra a religions fanatic? She's certainly pious, but she doesn't press the issue of belief or disbelief in the Maker to the Herald/Inquisitor, and seldom ever mentions it again. She defines a lot of her life by her faith, but she doesn't seem to impose this idea on anyone else. If anything, Leliana is the one that's a bit out there. Taint some ashes and she goes monkey-sh** XD

(tip: the Sacred Ashes scene is better if you take away her weapons)

I didn't hate anyone either.... all characters seem to have an interesting side or twist in their stories. I absolutely loved Vivienne, she is that kind of person who knows what she wants and goes for it, she aspires power through reestablishing order and knows the Inquisition is the only organization who can do that. I also don't think her views on magic and the circle are too extreme, she seems to actually care about other mages and believes that the circle is the safest place (at that particular moment in history) for them to nurture and develop their power. I did a play-through in which I disagreed with most of her ideas and was surprised that she never threatened to leave, but it makes sense, she's not a rebel, she'll just cut you verbally and make you feel terrible every time you try to hit on her. Also, amazing banter lolol...

Her piety is enough as is her belief in the likely fictitious Maker.

This guy has been going on a rant about religious characters and the "patriarchy" heterosexual romance options throughout the forums. I'd take anything he says with a grain of salt. He's just looking for attention, attempting to incite absurd arguments.

Oh? Would you care to explain how I'm homophobic? I've said in multiple threads that Dorian is perhaps my favorite companion of the game, and he is gay. At this point all you've done is levy baseless insults and attempt to stir up arguments over heterosexual and religious topics.

If you believe Dorian is the best companion you should romance him and check your heterosexual privilege.

Why should I be forced to romance him if I'm not inclined towards that way? I can't appreciate a gay character unless I want to romance them? Troll harder please.
