Why should I be forced to romance him if I'm not inclined towards that way? I can't appreciate a gay character unless I want to romance them? Troll harder please.

Why are you citing that he is gay if you simply appreciate his character? Clearly there must be something going on here beneath the surface...

I expected to love almost everyone but fiercely hate Cullen because I also hated him in the first two games...

....

I'm now romancing him for the second time.

Needless to say I ended up hating nobody and loving everybody lol

EDIT: (Can the two above me stop throwing temper tantrums? :D especially Stardusk)

Clearly. I want to change up my psychiatrist, you're uncovering more than she ever did.

I genuinely didn't dislike anyone. I didn't really click with Solas and Blackwall, but I didn't really switch out my party as much as I thought I would. Dorian, Sera, and Bull were always my go to team. I'm going to try and change it around more on my second playthrough.

People are going to hate me for this, but... I didn't like Iron Bull. I thought I would, but in the end he just struck me as bland and not particularly interesting.

Wasn't a huge fan of Blackwall either.

I didn't even bother to recruit bull. I like FPJ, but Iron bull was just a dudebro Qunari.

After replaying I have to commend Bioware's new set of characters, they were truly epic. The only one I still dislike is Vivienne (she is a well written character nonetheless)

While I did not hate anyone, Iron Bull was the worst (comparatively, not saying he was a horrible character).

I liked Viv (especially since my canon is a Loyalist human mage Inquisitor), Sera grew on me, Dorian is a good Tevinter (which is great, I like Tevinter... the good aspects, not the blood magic and slavery), I liked Blackwall, and Solas was interesting and made good points here and there.

I just didn't care much for IB so much. He was a nice guy and the story and struggle between his current life and the Qun was nice, but... I don't know, I didn't care all that much compared to the others...

I hated her on my first playthrough, it was a rivalry path. But on the friendship path a lot of the scenes are entirely different and she opens up quite a bit. Ended up liking her more.

Absolutely hate Vivienne.  Dislike Sera, but she's good fun sometimes, I suppose.  Just too narrow-minded and out of place for me.

IB was ... ok. He was very much a good guy friend kinda relationship, and because of that I just can't picture being in a romance with him. But he IS very much a normal person, which is cool because having normal people is good! But odd because qunari.

I liked Blackwall, but he was very typical gruffy-scruffy kinda guy UNTIL his personal quest. I had so many feels when that was revealed that... yeah...

Overall the cast gave me so many emotions that it's absolutely beautiful. From pure hate to complete adoration. Great job, Bioware.

Loved everyone until I did the Adamant mission and talk to Vivienne, where she talks about how Grey Wardens are useless and relic of the past. Now I hate her. I'm fine with all her views on everything else though. Also dislike how Grey Wardens are portrayed in DAI, but that is another topic.

Vivienne: The Circle this, the Circle that.

Me: Yes, I can understand your point of view.

Vivienne: The Wardens are useless.

Me:

Yeah, IB is kinda.... overrated? Like he doesn't have any flaws at all. He's nearly perfect. Characters like him bore me to death.

Though i do admit his banters are golden. Especially if you romance Sera and you have her/IB/Dorian in your party, you have basically a double gay date. :P

I don't hate any of them. But then again, I didn't hate any of the Origins or DA2 companions either. Dragon Age games in general have pretty good casts. I did miss the intimacy of the DA2 cast. I definitely did not miss the fact that certain members of the DA2 cast did nothing but abuse each other when I took them out (never ever have Anders, Fenris, and Merrill in one party). In this game even the ones who really don't like each other have entertaining banters together (Solas/Vivienne is especially fun).

The banter, however, has definitely improved. To a startling degree. If only I could hear more of it than once ever three hours or so!

I have a hard time truly hating companions as well. All of them had something that might grate my nerves in one instance, then warm me up the next, more so the latter, I found.

The Arishok was a bad ass. Serious, fierce, and intimidating. A true warrior.

Iron bull is a college bro talking about all the sex he had.

I was excited that a Qunari was going to be part of the inquisition until I met Bull and was like WTF?! Iron bull was a major let down for me. It actually kinda ruined my image of the Qunari as badass warriors. The only lines I liked from bull was when he was talking about battle and tactics with Blackwall.

Solas is my least favorite. He pretty much hates me too. I can't seem to get his companion quest. Sigh.

I don't care for Cole or Solas so far (in terms of personal taste - I think they're great characters, but Solas seems so naive about spirits and I don't trust Cole, as I think he's basically a semi-human murder knife embodied). Maybe later when I make more Inquisitors with different views.

I know a lot of people hate Viv, but I love her. I find it amusing the other companions are always getting on her, and she keeps her composure. My favorite was someone (Blackwall, maybe?) asked her whether she missed the comforts of her mansion, and she was all, "Miss? Sure, but I don't *need* them" and going on about how she's not as bloody pampered as everyone acts. This occurred as we were quite successfully mucking around a swamp. I also like her, "Of course, I'm here, this is too important not to get my hands dirty" type attitude.

I allied with free mages and everything, and Viv didn't give me much of a hard time. I just had to recognize the dangers to appease her. That seemed reasonable to me. Free mages *are* dangerous. I wanted to free them and couldn't pretend otherwise.

Solas is naive about spirits?! I'm guessing you haven't learned all there is to know about him and his extensive experience with spirits. Or, maybe this was just your early impression of him?

Vivienne is very believable. She is consistent and makes no apologies. She very much approved of my first inquisitor. We will see if she thinks as well of the current.

I like Cole. I knew a lot about him having read all the DA books, so I may have been more patient with his weirdness. I chose to go to Therinfal in my first play-through, and his intro in that event is much better than his intro at Haven.

I haven't enjoyed Sera. She went f-ing nuts on me at one point, after I expressed a differing opinion, screaming like an animal. I should've let her leave. I'm going to try to embrace her a bit more in a future play-through, but so far she has seemed superfluous and obnoxious.

Let me see:

Iron Bull - Sera - Viviene - Cassandra - Josephine - Dorian - Cole ...

Yes, that would be all...

Iron Bull can become interesting conceptually if you choose to save the Chargers given his earlier disgust for Tal-Vashoth in dialogue. However, since every character more or less stops developing after their character quest it's not explored as much as I would have hoped.

As I keep playing, I have to say Sera. She is... annoying. I think I'm going to forget she exists in future playthroughs.

I see a lot of people saying Sera was annoying. While at first I thought she was kind of annoying with her sense of morality, her manner of speaking really made her stand out so I just paid attention some more and grew to like her as a character. She seemed to have more growth than other characters, as I read the book by her room and saw it expand as the story progressed, and I liked how she seemed to be quite reactive to choices I made. It may have been because I was a human mage who was Andrastian, but I thought it was interesting that she took more interest in the faith because of my character's interest, but I haven't completed a second playthrough to see if it could be different. Also, I liked the rooftop scene and I liked that she was an elf who wasn't an elf, like Zevran.

Bored.

(Below is a doodle of an evil looking Fiona, with horns, being murder-knifed by Inquisitor, and another drawing of what looks like Dorian with many sparkles around him as well as an exaggerated mustache on his face and staff, and Cassandra's name in block letters with hearts around it.)
