I was amused at the note indicating a doodle of Sera and my Inquisitor dancing at the Orlesian ball.

BW letting the Inquisitor dance with the LI at the Winter Palace was a nice touch. I only saw the Cassandra one which I thought was sweet because of her reaction to my first request for one during the investigation.

Don't hate anyone, but I found Blackwall being extremely dull despite his personal story twist (which honestly could be seen from a mile away) and Sera often grates on my nerves.

Dislike Vivianne (arrogant ******) and Sera (petulant child) equally, they are on par with my dislike of Merrill (selfish moron) and the destruction of the much loved, funny and awesome Anders personality from DAA who became the psychotic ******* Anders in DA2. Fenris the emo also annoyed me partially even more so than the pompous Sebastian but both were less annoying than Vivianne or Sera. Blackwall is also a douche in DAI. I liked the rest though to varying degrees in this one. Sola's was amazing in this one (best written companion), Iron Bull did not disappoint at all and Cole was a very interesting character. Cassandra was merely okay. Dorian was at times a douche too but other times was quite good so I liked him more so than disliked. Varric is still good but not as good as was in DA2.

Who do you have to speak to or overhear to get this? I'm pretty far in the game and have yet to discover it.

For me its First Enchanter Vivienne. Im a female human mage and she treats me like her child. WTF?

Strangely enough, playing as my female elven mage has me enjoying Solas and Varric a lot more than in my previous playthroughs. The power of role playing eh

Vivienne, without a doubt.

 

I'm on my second playthrough and i just took her in and never spoke to her, not even once. I'm half way through the game and she still hangs in the courtyard. To me, she is most repulsive character in any of bioware games.

 

So why did i took her in then? Well, just so i could ignore her. (like it matters in any way but yea.. )

I don't "hate" any of them, per se.

I love Cole, Vivi, Bull and Cass.

Solas starts out strong and then turned meh.

Dorian is the most grating because of his sarcastic cynicism. Which is odd because I'm quite a cynical bastard myself. If that's what it is like to be around me....oy.

Blackwall is terribly boring, IMO. Great twist with his character, but still boring (sorry GamerMD).

How can anyone hate Solas?  I love and respect him more than is decent.

 

For me, though.. I'd have to say I absolutely detest Vivienne.  I want to have a "slap Vivienne in the face with a chair" DLC.  I would pay large sums of money for it, actually.

 

And Sera didn't quite jive with me.  She was annoying, childish, simple.. but hey -- that was the point, right?  I can't deny that she was well-written.

 

I like the IDEA of Iron Bull, but his execution was lacking.  I found Fred Jr. to be an atrocious pick for his voice, and felt like all his humour and his story arc was so.. blatantly forced.  I didn't dislike him, I just didn't like him, either.  

 

Everyone else I loved for very different reasons.

I hate Vivienne, didn't like Sera at first but she is growing on me. Though I do still find Sera hard to look at and she talks like she is trying to chew on her own face.

Solas is my least favorite. He pretty much hates me too. I can't seem to get his companion quest. Sigh.

 

Stop making Solas hate you.  Leave him alone, he's doing the best he can!

 

Sorry.  I can't even describe how much feels I have for Solas.

Sera, at least everyone else is rational.

 

i think the biggest issue people have with Viv is that they wanted her to be the master of debates and as such limit the PC's responses so she wins pretty much every argument. but atleast she is a psychopath.

I don't hate any of the companions  I do find Vivienne annoying, even if I agree with some of what she says.  I also find both Iron Bull and Cole to be a bit boring. While he's a spirit and offers interesting insights from time to time, Cole is just a regular rogue/assassin (I was hoping for some cool spirit powers in combat but whatever) and he comes off as mentally handicapped- not innocent - to me.

 

Edited to add that I would also include Varric and Dorian to the list.  Other than telling me about what happened to my DA2 cast Varric is boring and useless.  As for Dorian, I can't stand his constant snark and sarcastic humor.  It gets old, IMO.

I liked:

 

Cassandra - Fairly good character.  Sounded like a French female Arnold Schwarzengger.

 

Solas - He was fine even though he's just a bald Spock.

 

I didn't like:

 

Sera - Ghastly. From beginning to end.  One of the worst characters in the history of the medium.

 

Dorian - I liked him until he started his whole "They tried to turn me straight!!!" crap.  UGH.  Gimme a flipping break.

 

Vivienne - Take that staff out of your arse, dear.

 

Cole - He had potential but. His. Stupid. Speech Pattern. Got on. My Nerves. How do you. Like it. Bioware?  They did they spirit thing better in JE.

 

Ironbull - Terrible attempt at another Wrex.

 

Blackwall - In conversations with you he's gruff, dedicated Grey Warden, then in his conversations with the party he acts like Sera.  WTF? Schizo.

 

Varric - He was okay in DA2.  Here is is a lying, cowardly weasel and he looks like his face has made a turn for the plastic.

 

 

Probably the worst cast in any BioWare game.  Even worse than DA2, something I didn't think would be possible.

Started taking Solas along and I'm really starting to dislike him even more. For whatever reason he reminds me of that one guy that always has a story to one up everybody else.

She's the only one I've given up talking to in Skyhold. 

 

She is a complete mercenary. The fact that she can't comprehend that Cassandra would give up power, wealth and a title to achieve what she believes to be right sums her up totally.

This is great how everyone has different opinions of characters. That actually may qualify as some sort of success for bioware.

 

So, Vivienne. Originally I thought she was just a tool. But as the game progressed, I have actually come to like her. She has become my go to mage. It was Solas, but I found I liked Vivienne's personality and comments more. Solas is just so....mellow all the time.

 

I just want to slap Sera around, but I like her bow skills. I don' much care for Varric, and I dig Archers. I know I cold give Cole a bow, but then I have the dumbest comments about people and songs and stuff. No thanks.

 

The banter between Sera and Viv is great anyway. They don't like her either.

 

Blackwall and Cassandra are good party members. I really prefer Blackwall's Abilities over Cassandras, but have been using her just to get a better handle on what Cassandra brings to the table.

 

Dorian is a fool. Ironbull is just to silly for me to take. I have never brought him along for a mission.

 

But yeah, after two plays of the game. Vivienne is my favorite party member.

 

Final note: For these companions, It irritates me that we always have to worry about what they approve of. Sometimes, I wish they would try and get OUR approval.
