Depends on how you define interesting I guess, there's a reason for why she is the only companion that can be booted out after joining, which hints at bioware themselves knowing how some players might feel about her.

Oh how swell, good to know Bioware has Sera's back on this.

Well whatever I just am slightly surprised is all, Vivienne doesn't seem like a very interesting character either but virtually none of the men come to my attention aside from maybe Solas so.. meh.

Plus I mean hello the story forum threads have Sera easily as the most popular in terms of views. On other forums outside this one she seems popular this one. So again it's just odd that she would also be one of the more actively disliked here.

This is the first BioWare game where I like all the companions, including advisers. I think the weakest was probably Dorian, but I still had fun with him and his banter. Solas, Iron Bull and Cole are my favorites <3

Else i hate that my team chat each other so rarely, they are just being silence almost time and they are don't care what's going on at game, like about romance, before they are joking a lot and flirting each other, but now it not happen, so sad. I was hoping that in this part of game will be more dialogues and much more romance scene, but ... ehhh (TOT).

It's a bug that seems to be affecting a lot of people. There's an 18-page thread about it in the Feedback section if you want more information.

It would be Blackwall, for me. His concept, twist and eventual redemption I love, but I found him to be rapidly outhshined by the rest of the cast. I actually loved Vivienne and found it almost criminal that she wasn't a love interest.

I used to ****** a lot on the DAO forums that my Circle mage got to take Duncan to his bedroom but couldn't jump into bed with him. Blackwal for me is Duncan II but without the sexy white armor so I like his toon. But alas, a certain fade mage stole my heart so I barely take Blackwal around :P

And here we go again...

Strange how the entire problem with the breach was CAUSED by magic. Seriously, why do pro-mage people CONSTANTLY ignore the fact that the games explicitly tell you that each circle is different and that each circle had different levels of leniency. In DAO, we meet MULTIPLE mages that leave the circle and go about their business (Finn, Wynne, the Senior Enchanter and apprentices)

But apparently we must generalize all circles to be Kirkwall...yet somehow all mages aren't generalized to be Tevinter mages?

I like vivienne quite a bit. but i can understand why other people loath her and its unfortunate you bring pro mage/Templar debate into this. She wishes to maintain the status quo not for the benefit for the people but for her own benefit. She continually preaches chantry values but blatantly disregards it herself having tremendous political power and living in luxury without Templar oversight. The status quo strengthens her and anti circle sentiment weakens her. If a southern tevinter imperium would be created she would likely be the cause of it.

And thats why she is one of my favourites.

I think the only character that I didn't care for was Vivienne. She was a straight up demon Later in the game she asked for some ingredients and she wouldn't tell me the reason why. I told her no way. Next playthrough I am going to avoid her at all costs. Going to have to turn her down. The Inquisition does not need her. Plus I didn't care for her hair style or lack of. No wonder she wear that head gear; her hair was hideous. I didn't really bring her during my playthroughs. My main party consist of Dorian, Sera, and Blackwall. Swap it with other characters for certain side quests

The whole conversation about Haven not being a good place to be was so out of line.Funny Liliana was preachy  in Dragon Age Origins, which annoyed me. Dragon Age 2, you had Anders ranting about mage oppression . Now we have Vivienne who preaches her chantry circle of magi propaganda.

The only character I dislike is Iron Bull. I just find him intensely annoying. I am not sure why.

I like Vivienne. Not love. Like. She doesn't like me very much though. :P

There's usually one or two companions in these kinds of games that I don't like or am indifferent to. In DAI? I like them all. I'm madly in love with Cole, Cassandra, Dorian and Solas, though. The hardest in game decision I've had to make so far is who to take with me when I go various places.

If I was forced to choose I'd probably say my least favourite is Blackwall. But he's still wonderful, just not my kind of person.

I also haven't finished the game, so there's that.

I like all the characters as characters.  I had the most conflict with Sera, but even then we basically get along.  Its not that hard to sympathize with her desire to just "get back to normal.  And she brings the Inquisition a lot of valuable intelligence through the Red Jennies.  I love Vivienne.  She's great and slapping down Sera and Blackwall when they try to jump on her verbally.  Her banter with with Varric is pretty good too.  And her political advice is usually quite accurate, though you may not agree with her goals.

She's not insistent on the status quo.  She just doesn't believe that you can trust the willpower and good nature of every mage, so there needs to be safeguards.  As well as protection for the mages from the idiocy of mundanes.  That doesn't have to be the Circles.

Probably not the thread for it but it's at least semi-relevant... can I say how disappointed I was with Blackwall's transparency? They should've dropped subtle hints. But instead, one convo completely gave it away.

Blackwall: Just because an archdemon is powerful and surrounded by darkspawn doesn't mean it can't be killed like anything by being stabbed enough times.
Player: Wait a minute. That's not true. This guy's not a real warden.

It would've been nice to wonder if your suspicions were right rather than wonder when the outright reveal was coming.

I can't bring myself to hate any of the companions.  But so far I do not love them either.  although the voice acting is amaze balls! Cassandra and Vivienne especially I am using the British lady as my warden and her voice acting is also top notch, although I have not emotionally connected with the characters stories like I did in Origins and DA2 The voice acting is just amazing

I wouldn't say I like Vivienne as a person (her personality can be very grating), but I respect her and find her very well-written.

I don't outright dislike any companions, but Blackwall was very forgettable for me.

I was all set to have my Inquisitor dislike Cole, but after his recruitment quest

Spoiler
I just can't do it.

I liked them all, though Vivienne is the only one that teeters on the border between love/hate. Sometimes she's a tish too conniving and uppity for my taste, she's got the attitude of Morrigan but not the redemptive aspirations. Other times, however, she shows a bit of soul that makes me look at her differently. Can't say I love her but no...don't quite hate her either.

That's just in terms of personality, though. If we're talking conceptually, I think they were all fantastic and incredibly well-done. But this is Bioware, this is where they excel.

Loved Vivienne. She actually made me reconsider my stance on free mages with her thoughts on the Circle.

If there's anyone I can't stand, it's Sera. Unrepentant, irreverent, doesn't particularly care when her friends get killed for a prank, and insults my Inquisitor when she tried to get her to admit responsibility for her actions. Ugh.

Absolutely hated Vivienne, like Sera said, "she's a ******."  I originally did not like Sera until I went a bit further into dialogue with her.  Her mannerisms are strange but she is a great character.  Surprisingly for this BioWare game I only disliked one companion and really had a hard time choosing which companions I wanted to bring with me on my missions heh.

Man, I hate Vivienne. I deeply respect her char for her integrity, authority and loyalty, but she's arrogant and narrow-minded.

Sorry, Viv. I recruited you once and that's it. No more.

It was the same with me. Maybe I was a bit too into the head of Dalish Inquisitor but she and Sera did not get along till well into the end game. I had a very visceral 'no, you are exactly what I don't need in this game right now' feeling as soon as I met her and while it somewhat ebbed by the end I'm still trying, and failing, to find any love for her. I love the fact that she's so polarizing, it makes for an interesting experience, but if my Inquisitor hadn't been worried about Sera throwing a fit and using the Jennies to enact petty revenge she'd have kicked her out after the first hour.

LOL yes that is literally the reason I didn't kick her out. I was like "At least when she's here I can keep an eye on the idiot".

Dorian, twas the typical Gaider interpretation of wit and humour that just falls flat with every line, and nearly every line was some sort of failed witticism

Weird how the majority of responses have been how they dislike the women...

...hmmm.... curious.

Not sure what you are getting at? Something about the patriarchy and their quest to objectify and oppress women?

I despised, and continue to despise, Sera. She's way, way too much of a try-hard "funny/random" character and her actual motivation for joining the Inquisition is... did she even have one?

I originally hated Vivienne however she grew on me greatly over time and now I think her look, manner of speaking, and writing are all superbly done. She also brought up a lot of compelling arguments against getting rid of the Circle system for mages.

Blackwall is sort of... meh. He's obsessed with the Grey Wardens to the point of it being annoying, but I can't say whether that was intentional or not as

Spoiler
I love his beard though.

Aside from that, they're all pretty damn good. Cole is fantastic, the little pop culture references he constantly says that seem cryptic and weird at first are awesome to hear and figure out. Dorian is an all-round likeable character to talk with and have in your party. The Iron Bull is charismatic and hilarious. Solas is a very intelligent, cool-headed member that seems to have knowledge on any subject you could think of. I ended up liking Cassandra much more than I thought I would, especially as basically the only real romance option available for straight male characters; her character development and revealed "guilty pleasures" quest with Varric was cute and excellently done. And of course, there's Varric, IMO the best companion in DA2 by a massive stretch, not really possible to dislike him.
