You should when you get his approval up interesting things happen with cole, solas and varric.
Who? Oh, that quiet young man? Yeah, I think I remember talking to him before but, strangely, I can't seem to remember what is was about......

Even Awakening Anders?
He really is a prat in Awakening if you don't agree with him about mages.
Like a snide condescending prat. It's very easy to see how he became that stick in the mud in DA2 if you don't agree with him often in Awakening.
Not sure actually.
I like Cassandra, she's a hot head but she's a strong woman.
I like Varric, he's amusing even if his constant digs at Cass gets a bit old after time.
Solas is a fantastic character, I really respect him, he's essentially a more open minded Wynne from Origins.
Iron Bull is pretty cool for a Quanari too, very level-headed.
Blackwall is dodgy but I like his personality so far, haven't done his personal plot just yet.
Vivienne grates, she's got a hell of an ego.
Sera is amusing if you don't take her seriously.
Dorian is amusing in a classical stereotypical way, but I read his lines as all 'sass and sarcasm' and it makes him better. I suppose if you take him at face value he's no better than Vivienne but his humour is what defuses his arrogance for me.
Cole is... Cole.
Did I miss anyone?
Out of those lot I suppose Vivienne is the most 'hated'.
Oh and I had a bit of a 'meh' moment with Leliana, considering she's sleeping around again, damn girl, be loyal to my Warden god damn it! ![]()
Don't hate anyone, but I'm not too fond of Sera.
I went into this game expecting my least favorite companion to be Dorian based on what I had seen of him before launch. Much to my surprise, I ended up keeping him in my party from the time he joined. I enjoy his character far more than I expected.
Sera and Vivienne are probably going to be the last people I take out on my adventures. I'm having a very hard time warming up to them.

Still...he is far better in Awakening than DA2.

True but he was by no means the bro character I see some acting like he was. And he whined.
It just gets Justice's NEED TO TAKE EVERYTHING TO THE MAX mixed with it in DAI and takes it up to 11.
I dislike Vivienne. I don't like anything that comes out of her mouth, and Sera - I don't understand most things that come out of her mouth, though I don't hate her like I do Vivienne. I'm not very far into my interactions with her, however, but not a fan so far.
I love how Blackwall turned out though. He could have been a by the numbers good guy but he was so much more interesting in the end. I love Cole, Solas and Varric too. I'm loving Dorian after hearing about some of his banter - but I haven't heard a lot of it because of, I guess, bugs? And "Pretend you don't know this about me," is my fav. Cassandra moment.
Hate is such a strong word, and I'm loathe to point out that the emotion is always a choice - so, there you go!
I don't actively dislike any of the new companions, which is a first for me in this franchise. A couple are proving challenging, but the quality of their writing has me engaged enough to weather the storm. For all of the scorn that Vivienne seems to have earned, I'm finding that her not being a romance option is unfortunate. I generally know what is in the offing with Blackwall, but my current human female mage is doing her best to woo him. I do not agree that he is too bland of a character and he is favorite of mine.
I could easily say the same about most of the Inquisitors pals.

Err, what? I don't recall any of that.
Honestly? Vivienne. "Magic is meant to serve man and never rule over him." What a load of **** convenience from the lady who's banging a noble and the Enchanteress of the Court of Orlais.
Blackwall. Just some random warrior with beard. What a boring character.
Surprisingly I liked Cassandra in this game.
Solas and I don't get along.
He evidently doesn't like my hardline opposition to making Thedas a spirit playground.
Varric and I don't get along.
He didn't like the fact that I took Cassandra's side about Hawke.
Everyone else - I think we're doing great.
Sera is the only one I truly dislike.
Haha and the magic meant to serve man never rule over him means that you should control one magic and never use it to harm someone.Honestly? Vivienne. Before I started playing I figured I would dislike Solas and love Sera, but it ended up flipped around. Solas turned out to be a pretty interesting dude so far, if a bit serious. Sera....I don't hate her but she is just so ignorant and talks like she dropped out of preschool. After completing her personal quest with the noble, I had a hard time keeping her in the group but ultimately did because I feel like there might be more to her. My militaristic style approach has no time for BS and it put a wedge between her and the Inquisitor.

Interpretation really. But that doesn't change my point, it's all still quite convenient to someone who IS in a position of power and authority. She doesn't give two shits about any other mages or what they might be facing. She wants her precious circles back purely so she can have her authority and power back.

Same here. Solas is actually one of my favourites. I don't hate Sera, she's actually very well written but... dear maker, she could be confusing and annoying as heck at times.
As an African man, this Vivienne (cursed be her name) insults me
talks like she dropped out of preschool. .
Considering her social class and race, its unlikely she actually went to school at all. Universal education is quite recent. The situation in Thedas does seem to be a bit better than it was IRL given the letters we find from common soldiers. Though many of them are far more illiterate than anything equivalent in Sera's speech.
Blackwall. His character crisis did make me gasp and give him a bit more depth, but he still ending up being as bland as three day old toast. The other companions I got to enjoy their company in unique way but this prat pulls out the damsel in distress card and then proceeds to act like a wanker. He never even rightly thanked me. And since I had to pass judgement it's not like he even had a choice in the matter. The only companion in Bioware history that I would kill off at the beginning of the game if I could and never look back. I think I may just not recruit him in the future. When I found out he was a female romance option I just squinted and wondered who on earth would ever like tosser. Maybe it gives him more depth but I feel like a love interest would be infinitely more betrayed at his character crisis.
Sera is bloody annoying but at least I got cookies and got to play pranks on people. And her party banter with Viv and the rest is entertaining. Varric and Blackwall had one good party banter line but even Varric couldn't get the guy be less bland.
I don't even think Varric gave Blackwall a nickname. That's pretty telling right there. Even Sebastian in DA2 was called Choir-boy and that guy was pretty meh too. Choir-boy's character crisis was at least an entertaining journey.
Blackwall hands down worst companion in Bioware history. Sorry to the writer/voice actor. ![]()
EDIT: Oh and I guess I always killed off Anders in DA2 because he became a ****** even when I was pro-mage, but I didn't mind Anders in Awakening so /shrug

Same here.
Now I flirt with him at every chance I've got. Plus, he's got a nice ass. ![]()
For me its First Enchanter Vivienne. Im a female human mage and she treats me like her child. WTF?
Does anyone actually like Vivienne?
I totally agree! I DESPISE Vivienne! However, its fun having her in my Skyhold. My inquisitor and Vivienne almost ALWAYS FIGHT! lol She actually hates my inquisitor. Every decision I make, its always "Vivienne greatly disapproves". The only time she and my inquisitor agreed was when I chose to be a Knight Enchanter. When I asked her why she's being nice, she was like "you have your moments." But I can't stand the way she talks and the way she treats people. I especially hate the "Oh Dear" dialogues. She's so rude, I just wish I get more smart ass dialogues against her.
I am also not a big fan of Sera. I am always confused when she talks. Blackwall is okay, but I don't really like him either.
My favourites are Dorian, Cole, Varric, and Iron Bull.
I despise Vivienne.
Every other character has good points and I can like them but not her. Eugh.
I will eventually have a playthrough with a character that gets along with her but as of now not yet. My actions in each playthrough are determined by the character's personality, not mine. Even if I hate a character or action if my inquisitor would like it then I do it.
