35 hours in. I really am indifferent towards the companions. I take them for their skill sets and utility. I find I appreciate Blackwalls Champion expertise the most.

Nice to see so much love here for Dorian and even Cassandra (both of whom I wrote).
So...thanks! I'm glad so many people liked them.
I'm not gonna lie- I was POSITIVE I was going to hate Cassandra. I just KNEW I wouldn't like her. Until I did and we were braiding each others hair reading aloud from trashy romance novels and giggling like teenagers.

I'm thoroughly enjoying Dorian, Vivienne and Solas. The mage companions in this game are all so different and interesting. Solas is a well of knowledge for all things concerning magic and the Fade. His investigate conversation options always explain more about the world of Thedas in a way that's intelligent and refreshing. Instead of giving hard facts he always questions the truth. His philosophy was interesting.
Vivienne had a very astute political mind, and hearing her point of view on how the Inquisition should operate was always riddled with merciless diplomacy. You can see that she's a fan of the Orlesian game, yet behind it all she wants nothing but peace and order. A strong woman who isn't afraid to be ruthless for the better good of all.
Dorian offers an interestingly unfiltered outlook on Tevinter. And he's full of golden sass. Also his personal story hits close to home. Loved him.

My favourites were IronBull, Sera and Dorian, they were surprisingly fun and I ran with them most of the game, It felt more like a festival than an apocalyptic setting it was awesome.

This is the part where I fawn over David Gaider, right?
I was really worried about Dorian at first. A gay character in video games just comes off as this super-hyper totally flirting with everything in sight sort of guy with no real substance to his actual character. As soon as I met him and started having conversations it became evident that this was different.
Dorian is my favorite character, not only because of the romance (seriously well done) but also because he's not just that average guy. He's sassy, intelligent, caring, and just how he interacts with everyone in the party. The banter between him and Sera was hilarious. Well done.
Edit: Ah, as another poster mentioned, his personal quest almost gave me a tear due to how I personally had friends who had similar situations, and almost myself.
And Blackwall's character really surprised me as well. I'm used to the gruff grungy warrior guy, but after his quest... Yeesh... Amazing job.

Solas is my favorite. And my romance. *cries*
And then Dorian, we're best friends.

I think what I liked best about Dorian is as a female human my inquisitor could have a flirty and banter-y relationship with him, much like fairly every relationship I have like that in real life. But she didn't come off annoying or desperate, she still knew who and what he was without trying to change him, and could be fully supportive of him and his lifestyle choices, and still have that great relationship. After his quest, if you flirt with him he flirts back in a very fun, easy way, and it's very much like something I would do with any number of my friends in real life. It's not like he goes "Listen, uh...you remember how I said I liked dudes?".
I don't know if I'm explaining it right, but it was a very natural friendship between my female inquistor and Dorian. Love him.

Cassandra - by far.
I had absolutely no interest in her - then I started experiencing her story.
Her doubt, her worry, her weakness, her strength, her courage, her silliness, her seriousness... she is an absolutely fantastic character.

Sera and Dorian are my favorites and my Inquisitor's bestest friends. I drag them around more than any others.

Blackwall, layered, at first I was like...dang he's boring....then you notice things he doesn't say about things he should know about, and he's handy, like the crafty types. I liked the 'Whoa! not who I thought you were. I know Wardens can be dodgy but....'
Cole (suprized me!) - was not sure I was going to like him at all, creepy looking teenager, but his convos and insights.....touching and funny.
Cullen (triple surpized me!) There's so much more to him....and LOVED that they brought up the lyrium addiction with him
Dorian, fun to talk to (energy!) and an interesting view on Tevinter, also his VA.....don't think that character could have been pulled off quite so well with anyone else. He nailed it.
Loved the character progression of Varric from DA2 to DAI. Poor guy needs a hug option.
And it was awesome to see a soft creamy center to Cass. She's like candy coated bubblegum with a liquid flavor center.
Okay....the only one I didn't care for was IB.....don't get me wrong, he has some good lines, and can be funny.....I just didn't like the character design or the VA. That was probably the weakest VA choice to me. He's best in the scenes with Krem. (part of me wanted Krem as a companion over IB)

I liked Dorian for his banter, but honestly I think maybe Cassandra and Solas. Solas because, like with Aveline, I mistakenly expected him to be boring. Instead he was someone who was pretty deep, who gave me a fresh perspective on the Fade which ran contrary to everything I believed (based on previous games) and really I felt my views changing because of it. He was a deeply passionate man, but softly spoken for the most part.
Cassandra is wonderful because she's always questioning herself, there's a reflection of the Inquisitor in there, the "am I doing the right thing?" But more than that, it's the way she understood that you needed to present a united front no matter her beliefs. "Cassandra disapproves" would appear, but she was stepping forward and defending your positions regardless. It felt that she understood the burden of leadership. Shame she couldn't tank as well as Blackwall ![]()
i don't think any of the companions grabbed me quite as much as some of my other Bioware favourites, like Morrigan, Shen, Merrill, Aveline, Tali and Garrus. However, it didn't feel like there were any weak links either. Everyone brought something to the party.

My dream team:
Cass, Bull, Viv, Varric. The banter between Viv and Bull. Priceless.

I didn't dislike any of the companions/advisors. I loved all of them.
Special mention to Solas. Went into Inquisition without any real opinion about him, but he and Flemeth stole the show for me!
And wasn't expecting Iron Bull to become such a bro to my Adaar Quizzy, I loved that he had his own in-depth backstory and had more layers to his character, rather than a stereotypical all brawn and no brains character. ![]()

There are so many good companions in this game, but I have to go with the one that garbed my attention when I first met him. Cole. I am on my third play-through, and it is hard making different decisions, knowing that he is going to disagree with it. It's weird I know. I tend to switch out the rogues throughout my play time. Cole, Dorian, Bull is my favorite team so far.

Cassandra, Josephine, Vivienne my top 3 in no particular order. I like them all overall, well for the expedition of Sera. Blackwall comes close to my lower list but had a nice redemption arc.

Of the type of my head Dorian, Cass, Cole, Sera, Viv, Varric, Solas, Iron Bull.
Sorry for typos and errors.
Still need to do my romance char for Dorian though.
Edit: Favorite Advisor is either Cullen or Josie.

Solas swept me and my elf off our feet. Gah, he's such a sweetheart. All the sadness...
And also Dorian, the friendship between him and Inqui came across really well and his lines were just gold.

My favorites are Solas and Dorian. I could listen to both of those guys talk for hours. Cassandra surprised me - thought I'd hate her but she turned out to be so awesome.

Cassandra or Solas.

I have to say Cole but I thought Vivienne was amazing as well. Both really interesting characters and I loved interacting with them.

Sera.
She makes every one else come across as pompous, overly dramatic, ham fisted and corny.
...also so many of her lines have me in stitches.

Cole is great for banter but I have no interest in the actual character, the way he goes into people's minds and plays with their fears makes good stuff.
Vivienne is probably my favorite companion of the bunch. Daaarling.

I'm going to have to go with Cassandra, followed closely by Dorian. They were the like the BFFs of my female inquisitor, Cassandra for the deep conversations and occasional fangirling, and Dorian for the humor. Varric also really grew on me later in the game. Going to try the Cassandra romance next play through, and at one point was thinking of trying to romance Dorian over Solas with my female mage, but then I did his personal quest and realized that wasn't in the cards (that he apparently gets with Iron Bull later just makes me like him even more).
