Solas or Cole. Patrick Weekes did a really great job on this one. He's definitely becoming one of the best writers at bioware. Hope to see him in a senior position some day.

Tied between Solas and Dorian. Didn't romance them, I just love their story and personality. I hope Dorian is in the next game if we are actually going to Tevinter. Do you guys think thats possible?

Dorian. Sarcastic and reluctant to be explicit with his true feelings, but that's only because there's such a fear of getting hurt and that the vulnerability will be exposed...hmm, I wonder why he sounds so familiar? It will absolutely kill me if this is the last we see of him and the Inquisitor. Mr. Gaider, if you're reading this, please, please, please bring back the Inquisitor as the protagonist for all future games with Dorian as a companion. Imagine playing out the romance over the course of a couple of games - it has the potential to be so awesome and ground-breaking. I want another powerful, sustained relationship like the one Shepard could have with Liara or Garrus from ME. In fact, bring back the other companions too; keep some as the 'core' ones and add a few new ones every each game for flavour, sort of like what ME did. That is how you build a franchise with a following and strong attachments to PCs and companions.
In fact, there was hardly enough substantive interactions with the companions in DA:I. Mr. Gaider, where were the conversations I could have about licking lampposts in winter or raiding the larder like I had with you know who from you know what? I mean, nothing of note from Dorian after having him in my quarters until nearly the end of the game? I sure would've liked to get to know everyone better rather than prancing around Emprise du Lion or the Hissing Wastes doing stuff that could barely capture my attention.

Cassandra became my favorite, which I was not expecting.
I also love Solas, Dorrian, Vivienne and Cole.
And Varric, which goes without saying.
Iron Bull and Blackwall I am still on the fence with.
The only character I didn't really care for was Sera. Maybe that'll change with a fresh new POV and character on this play through, but I haven't utilized her very much given the fact that I'm going rogue archer this time around.

I think my favorite is a tie between Cole and Dorian.
I liked them all really. I just wish there was more because they all seem so stagnate, made worse by the glitches and semi-open-world exploration.

I found Blackwell's and Dorian's story line the most interesting. Cole's quest I gave a good 20 minutes thinking which path he took.
Frankly Lilliana disturbed me a bit after her personal quest.

My top three were Dorian, Varric and Iron Bull. I liked Dorians sarcastic wit, Varric is still the same dwarf that I loved in DA2 and I laughed my ass off over how overt Bull is.

Viv is a huge B but she's actually pretty entertaining. Cole is my favorite for combat, especially when I play as a rogue too. We tag team a lot. Cassandra has some funny moments. Varric is always cool. Solas is bald. Iron Bull is cool, but I don't use him in combat ever. Sera's cool, her personal quests are hilarious. Dorian is ok but far too flamboyant for my liking; plus mustache. Blackwall is beyond boring for me.
Hmm.. I guess my favorite is Sara, iron bull or varric.

I quite like all the characters in this one, there's none I can say I actually dislike. My favourites would have to be Sera and Blackwall though.

It's so very hard to choose. They all have such strong personalities.
Solas.........no, I changed my mind, it's got to be Cole because he breaks my heart into little pieces.... but then again Solas is soooo interesting and charming in a distant, reserved fashion.
Ok, my favourite is definitely either Cole or Solas but with the proviso that I also love everyone else. ![]()

Hmm. When it comes down to picking an absolute favorite, Cassandra. For several reasons.
Everyone else gets a very considerable mention. Cole and Sera both irritated me, honestly. They both had great moments that made me smile and laugh, but I didn't enjoy dealing with them as much as I did other companions.
Interestingly enough I liked Varric a LOT more than I did in DA:2. I was one of the few who didn't like Varric so much in DA:2, where he was clearly the favorite of fans and critics alike. Can't pinpoint it too specifically, but I definitely thought his character was more worthy in Inquisition.
Throughout my playthrough (a whopping 134 hours) I liked each companion very much individually, but by the end I had a lot indifference towards Sera, Blackwall, and Solas.

Iron Bull, for his levity and dependability. It feels like he'd be with you through thick and thin. Like Varric, but with an interesting new perspective and somewhat relevant to the current story.
Solas was easily the most engaging from a lore perspective and came across as kind of a mentor to a Dalish Inquisitor.
Cassandra became, to my surprise, my bestie character. She's respectful of your decisions even when she doesn't agree and after finding out her secret shame I just found her totally charming.
So those would be my picks. Also props to Dorian purely for having the best voice acting of the companions.
On the flipside I was indifferent to Blandwall, even after his revelation. His design and voice actor are perfect but he's so damned stoic about EVERYTHING. I feel like you'd really need to experience his romance to appreciate him. It seems like there's some angsty goodness there that's not available to males. I really wanted to like him.
Varric felt unnecessary and out of place. I'm inclined to automatically dislike any character that the writers aim to make the 'bromance' and that's Varric's sole purpose. For those of us that doesn't work for he doesn't really have anything to add.
And I outright hate Sera for reasons widely stated.
Overall, it's the most colourful cast they've done in a DA game, but also the most shallow at the minute. I feel like there's so much more to the characters that I've yet to learn and so much bonding they have to do with each other to really achieve that DA2 dysfunctional family feel. Hopefully DLC and a possible sequel will fulfill their potential.

In order from most liked to most hated.
1: Cassandra
2: Varric
3: Blackwall
4: Dorian
5: Solas(till the end at least)
6: Ironbull
7: Sera
8: Vivienne
Now currently Vivienne is right below Corypheus, but since he's not a follower I can't list him. I keep Viv around cause I love all the greatly disapproves she gives me, but I really wish I could tell her to shut up, or at least make a "Judgement" forcing her to live like a real Circle Mage....you know being abused by Templars, being suspected of Blood Magic everytime she tries to play the "Game". Taking her mansion away, etc...

I really love all the companions in this game. Major props to all you writers! Be proud.
It seems Dorian is the fashionable choice... and gods help me, he's mine too. So likable in so many ways, has a unique perspective (like everyone in Inquisition), brash flamboyance and vulnerability rolled into one.
Sera seems to be polarising, but I think she's great. She's the one who keeps the Inquisition grounded in reality (so to speak) -- without her, it'd just be a bunch of rich noble farts faffing around over who gets to lord themselves over what. I'm sure she'd agree.
Same with Blackwall -- he may be mellow, but that's not a bad thing. Just when you think you have him figured out as the pensive white knight, everything gets tipped on its head. It's valuable to have a guy who's been up and down the spectrum of good and evil, and have him react to you accordingly.
