Apparently there's a quest called Lotus and Root, a requisition you get from Mother Giselle. I'm guessing I got this and finished it (really can't recall, sorry).

 

The bug: After completing Lotus and Root, empty your inventory of Elfroot. Now collect Elfroot. As soon as you get 5 Elfroot, you get a popup on the Quest Tracker that says, "Quest complete: Lotus and Root". Delete the Elfroot from your inventory. Collect 5 more Elfroot, it will continue to pop up saying "Quest Complete".

 

Annoying since I do not have that quest. I currently need a lot of elfroot to upgrade potions. Once I get enough for an upgrade and turn them in, I'm back at zero Elfroot. Collect more and I keep getting this message.

Yea, I have this too.. 

Had to complete them to fix it.

Sorry for necroing this thread, but this still happens and it's driving me insane! Happens for a couple of other quests as well, like rune crafting.
