So I am I Skyhold and I head over to the stables and my inquisitor says something about forgetting the fereldan horses..  So did I forget something because I want to buy a new mount and can't seem to find the shop

Yes, you forgot something. In the Hinterlands, there's a quest regarding horses. You'll get a mount for free, and after doing the quests he points you at so does the Inq.

nope. you just have to go back to hinterlands

I got that both times too, but I am confused because I thought I did everything Master Dennet asked me to.

Plus, he joined the Inquisition, so he's not going to be back at the farm to pester?

I got that message as well. But I definitely finished the quest, and the horsemasetr is even part of the Iniquisition. Maybe a bug?

For Sabretastic and Coldwater, that does sound like a bug. During the playthrough i actually went and got the horses, they really registered as being there, in my inquisitor's words, they never had it better. Off course, i went while still in haven.

 

As for the OP, you can do the quest whenever you want, i never did it during my current playthrough, don't really miss them. But it's still there, as are a gazzilion other quests, i might not even look into.

There should be a place to click on near the stables where you can choose your mount.  Don't worry.  They are all still there.

Did you guys actually go back to him and ask him to come with you? That's what tripped me up personally, and had to bring Cassandra to convince him, but after that he was all happy in the stables and I was able to buy his exclusive mounts.
