Were the companions and advisors made in the available character creation?

I've been wondering if the characters in the game like Leliana, Cassandra etc were made in the character creator and can be replicated or not? I've seen a lot of "show of your inquisitor" threads, and a lot of Inquisitors look quite similar (though I guess many don't stray very far from the presets). As I recall, companions in Mass Effect 2 and 3 couldn't; they had unique face and hair meshes and complexions that weren't available to Shepard, but I can't tell if that's the case in DAI.

If so, will that make a difference for what mods are possible? There were a ton of companion facial mods for DAO and DA2. I understand only some texture mods are expected at this point, but if we don't have access to making faces that can replace companion faces, won't it be impossible to for example restore Morrigan's or Leliana's faces to be more like the DAO versions?

I'm not sure because a lot of the companions have unique body models so the faces might be made separately as well.

I think a lot of the faces were made in the CC but they all have unique hair and some have unique bodies :(

I'm a little mad that Cullen gets the only decent-looking hair style in the game. If I want short hair, my Inquisitor has to have a buzzcut or that godawful "side of the head shaved" style from the trailers. Whose idea was that anyway?

Same person who thought it was a good idea to bring this back instead of any of the actual good hairstyles from previous games

yep correct. If you compare the hair cuts available in the CC and those from the characters, they are quite different. I would have loved to use Cassandra's haircut

The hair options are laughably bad. There are some things that Bioware does great, but there are other things that Bioware is TERRIBLE at. Creating decent looking hair is one of them.

I'm not sure, their hair and complexions are unique and their eyebrows look a lot better than the ones found in the CC.

I just get annoyed that so many of the hair options have sideburns. Makes it hard to use them on a female character.

I think not, the artist has full control over the NPC model, it is not supposed to be scaled or modified with the sliders, and they can use any shapes, textures and meshes they see fit. That's why Cassandra or Viv is going to look better and more 'natural' than any possible CC face.

You can also compare default Hawkes and Shepards with their custom versions, I'm sure you're going to notice the difference.

There were mods that allowed you to edit defult Hawke in DA2, maybe it would also be possible to do so with DA Inquisition followers and advisors.

I think you can make your inquisitor similar to them but they definitely have different textures/hair/eyebrows. So no, they were probably custom made.
That said i think CC textures are good and my quizzy looks as good as companions (unlike Shepard), i have no complaints on CC.

I'd be interested to hear from the Bioware developers on this.

Seriously.

I almost want to believe it's just all a big joke to them. Or someone is smoking a ton of weed over there. Like they don't care at all, and are just doing it for laughs.

I was thinking the same thing. I want his hair... It's the only style that looks like mine in real life. Most of the styles available are really awkward lol.
