Am I missing something or is it not possible to do this?

If I'm not, then this is a major step backwards (pun intended) for game design. Not being able to face your opponents while positioning adds an unnecessary layer of difficulty for tanking. It also makes tanking much less enjoyable than it should be for me.

EDIT: I just realized it actually is possible if you use the tab-targeting on PC. Never used it until now, I'm stupid my bad. :)

Hey at least you figured it out before anyone could point it out for you.

I didn't know this - I don't even know what that tab targetting is good for. Always locks onto the wrong guy.

Edit: Why so clumsy? Just make it so that holding RMB snaps character to view direction.

You could always just left mouse click the target and the does the same thing.

Yeah, it does feel clumsy. Would prefer just RMB since I'm constantly holding it down anyway.

I'm too busy getting not killed than looking for the tiny mouse cursor on the screen.

can you do this on console?  I hardly play warrior, but it would be nice to know.

Click in the right stick to lock on.

The lock-in while guarding still puts you in unwanted situation when the clumy system locks on the wrong target, or one that is too close to you, or one that teleports/moves fast... Would prefer if guarding locked the direction you're facing to your view.

This. I would prefer it if we could lock to a target, and blocking would keep us facing them. It seems like being able to backstep would be essential t tanking properly. Also has everyone noticed we cannot strafe while blocking? You end up rotation as well.

I don't use lock on on my melee characters on PS4, just too clunky, camera gets wonky and just ugh.  I sometimes use it on my ranged characters still.  If the camera during lock on was a little better, and right stick still allowed me to move camera instead of change target it might not be so bad.  Need to be able to remap the target switch to another key during lock on.
