Just  a quick question: If I romanced Liara up to a *ahem*  certain scene, but then chose not actually go through with it, does that mean the romance is over? Will it or will it not carry over to the second game?

I don't know the answer to that, but that's a very good question. Maybe you could save your game there and try it out once ME2 is released?
