I wasn't quite sure where to ask so why not try the new player area. I'm actually quite near the end of the game but I have not found any vault where my money is stored. I'm sitting at 50k gold, have found the wine cellar, library, and that's it. No other rooms are off of that hall downstairs. I'm not sure what I missed to get this but I've checked on and off in my 90ish hours and still nothing.

Money is just stored in your inventory; there's no physical room to go and bank your gold coins...

Maybe it's just garbage or maybe it is real. I've read several posts around the internet saying that there is an actual gold storage in your keep. You don't do anything there but admire your vast horde, that's all.

Are you thinking of Fable 3? Cause they had that in Fable 3.

There is a vault, I've seen a screen shot. It seems to be related to an NPC who appears to you to put you through the "Quizquisition", which is like a Dragon Age trivia game. He appeared to me in the tavern, but to some people he appears in the Skyhold basement where a door to the vault has appeared. At least, that's how I understand it.

I can confirm there is a vault it just unlocked for me, however i have no idea what caused it, i havent finished the Quizquisition quest so it doesnt semm to be related to that.

Things that i recently did are:

-finished temple of Dumat quest

-bought a lot of influence/power contracts which put me to over 300 stored power(and unlocked perk for 15% better buy/sell prices)

 

Unfortunatly i have no idea which thing actualy unlocked the vault.

I think it may be the perk for 15% better buy/sell prices.  My son has a vault in his game and I do not.  We were not sure why but when I read Paric's post I asked my son if he had purchased that perk and he has.  I have not.

There is a Temple of Dumat quest? My next perk is going to be the 15% one anyways, so that works.... had quite a bit of coin saved up, but I bought a bunch of schematics last night, so.....yeah. I only have 11 k now....

It's the 15% perk, I just unlocked that perk after trying out that influence cheat and there is some nut job standing in my money talking about the Quizquisition.  Its fairly hilarious

I just stumbled over a bank vault down in the cellar by coincidense. Inside was a pile of gold coins and 'Lord Trifles Minutiae' the Quiquisition guy was standing inside.

You need the following three Inquisition Perks to unlock it:

Sterling reputation
A favor for a favor
Elite Clientele

Side note: you can encounter the Trivia guy before unlocking the vault.  I saw him almost immediately after getting Skyhold, on a playthrough where I never unlocked the vault.  I infer that he appears randomly around Skyhold.  I do not yet know if I must unlock the vault to progress with him; and, if right now you do, we don't know if that's intended.

 

When you get Skyhold, check the

stables by entering the barn structure, and making a right to face the stone wall, then look right.  He was in the space there on the grass by the fence; I hadn't seen him from the outside.

He spawnes in several places. But he really likes to summon in the vault. Even when you haven't unlocked it. I saw his glowy shade often enough through that wall. Didn't know I wasn't able to get to him and ran around Skyhold for a looong time, trying to reach him.

So yes: He is there, before you spent the 15% perk.

 

Oh, and I saw him near the gate and in the Inquisitor's Quarters (which kind of scared me )

He also stands around behind the stables where Blackwall is, in the small corner. And you can answer his questions even if you don't have the vault.

I had this vault in my last game with my Qunquisitor and honestly, I personally did not have very much money to fill it up - I never do after buying all the good schematics from Betyar in the Hissing Wastes.  Maybe that Scrooge McDuck vault is "inquisition money".

In the walls?  Jesus we need an exterminator!  I had him spawn on top of the mage/templar tower, and in the bar on the second floor, relatively close to where Sutherland and his group is.  I've only ever gotten one of his questions right.

 

Also, mad props for the Mary/James Kidd avatar.  Shame what happened to her in AC IV.

There's a Storage chest in the Undercroft to the right if you're facing the Inquisitor's throne. You can store up to 1000 items (upgrades, weapons, and armor).
