The people who made DAO what it was left shortly after DAO was released because the word came down that things were never going to be the same. And they never will be.

Hoping Pillars of Eternity rocks and it looks like it will. Also I would recommend the new XCom games for tactical combat (and fortress building :P). DA is moving toward AssCreed style gameplay. C'est la vie.

Totally agree with you and pre ordered Pillars of Eternity, too. Let's hope we'll get back to the roots with this promising game.

Well, that's a damn shame because I think the game is definitely better than any of the games they've been putting out for a while now. Enjoying it more than any of the Mass Effect games, probably as much as Origins.
I do, however, still find this blind loyalty to developers, platforms and console manufacturers that gamers seem to have rather curious, but there it is.
Sorry you don't like the game, OP :)

I hate entitled, whining, elitist, "The whole world revolves around me and what I like", clueless members of the "PC Master Race", so I guess we're even. Only, I guess I have future Bioware games to look forward and you don't, and never will, so there's that...

You simply don't understand what this complaining is about. It's not only about the "PC vs. Consoles"-thing. An epic story just isn't enough.

Hi!

Me three. :)

I learned about this game when I came here to complain about the bad PC port for DAI. I'm glad I did and found out about PoE.

At least someone is striving to make a cRPG worthy of the name.

Game is amazing and I am playing it on PC. About 30 hours. A couple things could be better. I don't think I've played a game where something couldn't have been better. AI and tac cam could be improved.

It has plenty of those moments that I love in open world games.

Part of the problem is nostalgia. People loved DA:O, they want DA;O remastered. Not Dragon Age Inquisition.

I personally didn't like the combat of DA:O and much preferred it in DA2. Was a bit to linear though. DA:I is definitely there best work yet.

It's apparently a "EA made Bioware makes games that don't exclusively cater to the demographic who liked 15 year old PC games. Because Consoles" thing.

I think the gameplay in DAI is the most fun it's ever been. Way better the the shuffling auto-attack of Origins.

I think it s a combat management/strategy verses direct action/button mashing thing. i liked the strategy and combat tactics of Origins a lot more than DA2 and DAI. But that's just me. Some people like more of an action oriented game that requires less strategy and more, well, hitting buttons and direct action on the part of the player. Like an FPS almost. I like those too, sometimes, but that is not what I was looking for here, and I am disappoint.

That said, as I stated in another post, this is mostly my problem with hope and expectations. I wanted a RPG and this is not what I was looking for.

Will revisit much later with reduced expectations.

Did you expect them to make a game for five platforms that caters to a playstyle that only really works on one?

Seriously, have you ever seen videos of Origins on a PS3 or XBox?

If I got a dollar for every time someone said this after a new Bioware game comes out, I'd be loaded by now.

Been playing it on PC with an Xbox controller.  It's fine.  I tried the mouse and keyboard a few times and wanted to ram my head through a wall.  I understand the frustration.  The complete lack of moddability is not doing it any favors either.

What the hell does "epic enough" mean? It is the story Bioware wanted to tell. Period. You can not like it or like it, but it is the story.  In my first 20 hours, the story is amazing. If the last 10 seconds don't live up to my expectations, I'm not going to bash the whole time I spent playing. (and yes, it is my opinion :) )

Eh? The quoted post said: 'epic story is not enough', not 'story is not epic enough'... reading is occasionally helpful...

And you're right, you and/or others are "Complaining", not giving a critique or constrictive feedback. They/you are just bashing the game because it doesn't live up to YOUR expectations. What elitist nonsense.

Are you seriously calling threads like

http://forum.bioware...nd-suggestions/
http://forum.bioware...-list-opinions/

"complaining", "bashing", "elitist nonsense"?!

Sorry, but I stopped reading right there.

uuhhhh....he said an "Epic Story" isn't enough....... meaning the story is good, but it is not enough to overcome the flaws.

What i see mostly here is not random complaining, but specific gripes and constructive criticism.

The PC controls were a let down yes. But, that is not the end of the world, I plugged in my 360 controller and had a blast. The story was not as tight as DAO's was, but that was expected with them opening up the world more. It was still a darn good game. It was great fun to play [with a controller] and the overall story and companions were still damn neat.

I would rate the game about as good as DAO, but with a different focus. This is not the shite that was DA2 and does not deserve the vitriol its getting from some corners.

Stop consoles vs PC wars. You have a great time playing DA:I with 'joystick'? Good for you. But look carefully and think how your game experience is limited because of that.

DA:I story is only a part of fun. RPG is also stands for immersive battles, where you can control things and master your skill. DA:I feels somehow limited in this 'department'.

I'm still confused about all this whining.

I play on PC. I first started a game on hard, played 50 hours. Had fun all the way but the game was a bit too easy (played without using tactical cam). Rerolled near end. I then started nightmare, played around 40 hours and having one hell of a fun time EVEN despite having to do things over.

I have played about 100 hours total and having a blast, I also play on PC. The combat is fun, the world is amazing, the companions are awesome, skyhold is awesome - its just not possible to get enough of this game. Again, playing without tac cam on nightmare too! I only use pause to issue commands myself.

I'm playing PC and, while I do see some of things people are complaining about, I am thoroughly enjoying this game. Maybe I just didn't raise my expectations that high, maybe my threshold for imperfections is high... who knows. But, nothing that I have come across has been so bad that I've wanted to throw the game and/or the company under the bus.

You're thinking of RTS. RPG stands for Role-Playing-Game. It doesn't stand for "Clone-of-Baldur's-Gate". You know what my knee-jerk reaction to the term "RPG" is? Chrono Trigger. Final Fantasy. freaking Dragon Warrior.

Your tastes and sense of nostalgia are not objectively superior. Inquistion is an RPG, just because it isn't a clone of some RPG you liked in the past doesn't change that.

Origin's gameplay was serviceable, but it wasn't anything great.

Take of the nostalgia goggles OP. Thanks.

i wasn't looking for a clone of Baldur's gate (never played), I was looking for better, more fun game play. Environment is fine, main story seems decent (side quests seemed tasky to me), but the dynamics of game-play is terrible, for me. You like it, that's great, but stop ranting and angrily attacking those that aren't' enthralled. It may be an RPG, but it is not a great one, IMO.

I'm attacking people that say that my platform choice (console) and game-play style are inferior to theirs, and that the devs should give them what they want at the expense of it. You just said "It's great and all that you like  the game with a controller, but you don't know what's good and this game shouldn't have supported your play-style, because I like other games better." That sentiment right there I will attack endlessly and bitterly. I like the game-play in DAI. I didn't in Origins.

Opinion or not, "I don't like that" and "That is not good" are two rather different things.

Maybe Super Drone and yourself would have better luck conversing if there was more "That's not appealing to me" and less "That's horrible because I think so." These are different ideas for different things; one is a question of preference, the other is a question of principle.

Play nice.

But it's obviously a fault, as I don't see any positive comments on this board. It could have been a great game, but it has so many flaws that I think they can overshadow all the Thedas. And yes, I thought this game would be the best, but the gap between my expectations and the reality seems too wide.

This is what happens with everyone having a selective mind on their own. They will only agree with posts that speak for them and ignore the rest.
