But it's obviously a fault, as I don't see any positive comments on this board. It could have been a great game, but it has so many flaws that I think they can overshadow all the Thedas. And yes, I thought this game would be the best, but the gap between my expectations and the reality seems too wide.

Sweeping statement much. In my experience, Inquisition has been significantly superior to Origins on 'most every front. Personally I've enjoyed the gameplay a lot more. There's negative noise on these boards because the people who like the game are mostly playing it. And you're also wilfully avoiding the praise discussion, apparently.

Every sequel ever released is loathed by a select few, who will motivate themselves to tear down all positivity because some aspect of the experience wasn’t specifically what they wanted. This isn’t news.

If you don't like or enjoy the game for whatever reason, that is an issue between you and yourself. It doesn't actually reflect the game's quality. The game is a high quality product, it is indeed great, it has reviewed well, it plays well, and people are very much enjoying it. These things are facts.

Do you like how the game was made?
Was the game made well?

These are not the same question.

i wasn't looking for a clone of Baldur's gate

I have to confess that I was, kind of, looking for a game like Baldur's Gate.  Obviously I knew this game wasn't going to BE like Baldur's Gate, but I do feel that it is lacking in two features that would have improved it immensely.  Super Drone, please don't be offended, but it seems indisuputable that these features were never made properly for a mouse and keyboard, but instead were built around the use of a controller, to the MASSIVE detriment of anyone using a mouse and keyboard.

1. Functional and in depth inventory and loot system.  Inventory management in this game is a joke.

2. Tactical, party based combat.

Rather than go into detail explaining my point, I would simply point to a recent game called Divinity: Original Sin.  DOS is what a modern AD&D equivalent would and should look like.  And I'm sad because DA:O started out this series closer to DOS, and has since been drifting farther and farther away from that type of game.

Whatever, it's still a fun game.  I don't judge anyone for preferring it.  It's just... if I wanted to play an action RPG, I would play the new Witcher (I will).

I'll get my $60 worth from DA:I.  But I'm looking immensely forward to Pillars of Eternity.  YMMV

This is what happens with everyone having a selective mind on their own. They will only agree with posts that speak for them and ignore the rest.

I've read some positive comments actually, but they look so predictable and shallow. People just say the game is great. Why? On the other hand, I've read a lot of comments which have constructive criticism in them, and I find those comments more credible.

Imagine, if Bioware had balls, they will sever the connection with EA and try crowd-funding. How many of you would pledge if Bioware, as a fully independent studio, promised they finally can make a game they have always wanted, and admit that the EA experiment was a disaster. Damn, I know I would.

But no. Their wallets are safe and fat now. No uncertainty that crowd-funding implies.

Peace.

They cannot EA owns them should they terminate should the developers terminate their own employment individulay . they are not allowed to work on software for a set amount of time.

You just granted credibility on account of a shared opinion.

Saying something is good is not shallow, it is simply a way to generalize your feelings. That is good, that is bad. A person who is enjoying the game does not want to sit on a forum and explain at lengths why they’re feeling that way, they just want to say it is good, and go back to playing.

On the other hand, when someone isn’t so pleased with what they’re experiencing, they will go to great lengths to make their view seem more valuable and ‘credible’ than the ‘shallow’ opposite, in this case praise. This is a normal practise.

At least OP is owning his opinion and not generalizing....Although I find it amusing to imagine bioware catering me.  Perhaps Laidlaw came over and delivered the game on a platter for my xbox one.

I'm attacking people that say that my platform choice (console) and game-play style are inferior to theirs, and that the devs should give them what they want at the expense of it. You just said "It's great and all that you like  the game with a controller, but you don't know what's good and this game shouldn't have supported your play-style, because I like other games better." That sentiment right there I will attack endlessly and bitterly. I like the game-play in DAI. I didn't in Origins.

umm, I never said any of that, other than I think its great that you like it...but i don't, and that is my opinion. I also said in other threads that I think this game is probably decent game, it is just not what I was looking for. I don't have any idea what you are referring to, but it was nothing I said. i have made it clear in all my posts that it is my opinion (e.g. "imo", "for me")...

My experiance with the game has been overwhelmingly positive bar a few (albiet rather large) gripes. I'm playing on the Xbox One, just to be clear. (And prefered the 360 version of Origins, even without mods)

Story: Fantastic. Graphics: Beautiful. Gameplay: Fun and engaging (I've had to change strategies and THINK about my battles, which I never really had to do with DAII).

But the glitches, man. Those gosh darn CONVERSATION GLITCHES. Especially in the romance scenes. I also had the game refuse to start until I did a system reboot and waited a while. Glitch issues that can be fixed with patches and the like.

If I have one criticism outside of unintended bugs, it is this: The Hinterlands set an expectation in the mind of the player that was not satisfied in any other playable area. The starting area after Haven is HUGE. It is by far the largest traversable piece of land in the entire game, therefore being larger than any other open/revisitable region. Most of the other regions in the game are half the size or less than the Hinterlands, and yet seem to have much more interesting side missions. It's why some people get burned out from the game before they can get to the attack on Haven and finding Skyhold, after which the sense of urgency and agency drastically improve. And that's rather sad, to me. They are missing out on what I see as a fantastic experiance because of how the "starting" area was designed.

Also, hair and beard options. Bleagh.

And yet... Dragon Age Inquisition is my favorite Dragon Age game thus far, and you cannot tell me I did not enjoy it or that I didn't think it was a fantastic game. However I cannot in return tell you that your opinion is wrong because your experiance with the game was different than mine, and I have to respect that.

Yeah I pretty much agree, as far as it is probably a pretty great game, and eventually I will rebuy and probably enjoy it. I just was not looking for an action RPG, but a character/skills driven one more (so maybe more like Baldur's gate). The thing I liked about DAO is the ability to set up tactics, step back and manage really difficult battles on the hardest difficulty, going from character to character and managing spells, attacks, etc. it was fun starting a battle and having my tank buffed with a protection spell, my rogue buffed with an attack spell, and the most powerful foe with a death spell, or something to that affect. I wasn't looking for a fast action click-and-move game - I can find plenty of those elsewhere.

Bring back the DA:O controls period. I stopped playing the game for a while because of my combat experience in 1st boss which is not good.

You can't seem to click the target at the rift because the camera does not show the view above. You need to target another comapanion and try to re-roll the camera and click back on the main character to right click the rift which is a lot of hardwork.

Also, attacking on air is not good while left clicking on a target. Why take out whats good before. If it ain't broken don't fix it.

Awaiting the patch before playing the game again.

Currently playing PoE which is amazing.
