I've heard of this glitch. Does anyone know if the amount of XP rewarded each time scales higher each time you level up, or will the amount stay the same relative to the level you first started using the glitch at?

Yep, but it is a lot and it does level you up extremely quickly at low levels.
I think I found at around level 52 is gave me 1024xp which is the equivalent of taking out two Geth Armatures on foot!

Though in the end it gets quite tedious. Think I stopped when my save # was around 350 or so.
