OK, so this is sort of like the favorite companion thread, but overall, which companion do you feel your Inquisitor to have the most chemistry with, and could be considered the central player in that character's journey? For me, it seems to be Solas. He's like the Spock to my Kirk. Admittedly, I feel like his character was specifically geared to be this way, since he is the one that could just nerdkrieg you with elven lore. On top of that, he seems to have some of the most interesting conversations, like

My female human rogue bonded with Cassandra right off the bat and she has been the one constant in my groups. Plus even if she doesn't like a choice I make she understands it is important to not dwell on it and will support the Inquisitor for the better good unlike others. Dorian would be a close second since we seem to get along great and he still flirts with me even though there is no chance of it leading anywhere, just a great guy who wants to make another smile and that is a good thing to me.

Cassandra is my human rogue's BFF.
Varric is my elven mage's BFF.
(Both of my PCs are ladies.)
This is just what naturally occurred.

Bit of a toss-up between Dorian and Varric. My Inquisitor is a benign spinner of bull**it just like Varric, and he's a playful master of sarcasm like Dorian.

Solas was my Dalish Inquisitor's BFF. Not only was he something familiar with which he could connect but Solas served to help guide my Inquisitor and aid in his choices. In contrast, Sera and my Inquisitor did not get along well at all.
I'm only just starting on my human rogue playthrough so I have no idea who her BFF will be. Considering her demeanour, it will probably either be Dorian or Iron Bull.

My mage Quizzy has a really bad girl crush on her BFF Vivienne. They share the same views on the circle and the role it plays in their lives.

Solas has lots of fascinating stuff to say and it is a pleasure to hear his take, but he has had little-to-nothing for me since arriving at Skyhold, and we always seem to find some point of disagreement.

Dorian is my inquisitor's answer to Varric. He's so funny and fun to flirt with, even as a female character. Everything about him makes me grin. He is an excellent bromance partner. I totally imagine the two of them going to the bar and ogling men together over drinks.

Cassandra, Dorian, and Varric are the perfect combination in my book. (Alas, I can't have that combination as much as I'd like because I stupidly made a rogue, but still!)

For my first Inquisitor, it was definitely Cassandra and Varric. Those two where her rocks during the tumultuous time she had learning to accept being seen as a religious symbol for the humans of Thedas. Solas was as well, but since he was her love interest that was pretty much a given.

Yeah Solas is my BFF in my first playthrough. I'm making a Dalish just to romance him.

My Inquisitor was also really close to Sera, Varric, Blackwall, and Iron Bull (romance), but Dorian was her BFF.

Cassandra and Blackwall, they are constantly pushing her to be better than she is and they honestly believe she is better than she is. She started out seeing the religious angle as a card that could be played to manipulate a lot of people into doing what she wanted whch was a life of ease because My Dalish Rogue is tired of working hard but there they were expecting great things from her and thankfully deeper than their religious beliefs. She kept up the charade more for them than herself and in the end just wanted to be worthy of them. I really wanted to reconnect with Varric and Cole but Varric didn't have enough content and Cole came in late 29 hours into the game for me. but we'll see where the rest of the story takes us . For now its Cassandra and Blackwall

My Inquisitor bonded really well with Vivienne and Dorian, surprisingly. If she hadn't romanced Iron Bull he would totally have beaten them in the Best Friend Forever category, though.

Dorian, 100% Dorian. In fact Varric is pretty much tied with Dorian in that regard.

Iron Bull. He's everyone's BFF.
In all honesty, though, it was difficult to find one with my Inquisitor. She was a proud Dalish, stuck in the middle of a Chantry-themed movement with two high-ranking Andrastians, an egotistical Tevinter, an elf who thought himself too good for The People, an elf who hated elves, a dull but respectable Warden, a demon/spirit/human who was more a child to be taken care of than a peer, a pathological liar who clearly already has a BFF in Hawke annnnnd... the Qunari bro. He wins by default.
But my Inquisitor never truly felt welcomed. Depended upon, yes. Well-regarded and respected, yes. But there was seldom a true sense of comradery or friendship in the same way that my Hawke, my Warden and my Shepard have received before. I don't know if this is primarily due to her Dalish origin, the sheer breadth of the game or the writing itself, but I just didn't feel connected to these characters in the same way I have before. Sera was a delightful lover and a headache, and honestly felt like the realest romance Bioware's yet written for a player character, and individual character arcs were heartwarming, heartbraking and wonderful, but the Inquisitor never seemed to develop an authentic kinship with any of them in my playthrough.
When it was all said and done, I really felt that all of them were bound to leave her side sooner rather than later. Probably even Sera. It was horribly bittersweet. Factor in, too, that her Dalish heritage was consistently belittled by her peers, her discovery of the true ancient elves and even her lover, and she really didn't have much to believe in. She doesn't even rejoin her clan, and the clan we find in-game is downright pathetic. In my mind, once the celebration is over and people begin to forget what she accomplished, she'll lose almost everything. She won't be regarded in the same way by history as The Champion of Kirkwall and The Hero of Ferelden.
I think I somehow turned this generic high fantasy into a tragedy by accident.

Iron Bull for sure, he starts off being your personal bodyguard to someone who you can hang out with at the tavern after killing a dragon
