I think it's because you have to be Dalish trained and Sera isn't.

ah  :( that'd mean I should sell it, cause my Inquisitor is a Qunari and if Sera can't wear it, I have no use for it.

I don't know if this is the right thread to post this in as it is not gameplay related, so, here goes nothing.

Platform: PC

Today origin downloaded a large update for Inquisition, and after that the game has been stuck in an update loop.

Whenever I try to start the game, it says that a necessary update is available, and that the game cannot be used until it has been installed. Pressing update immediately make it say that the update has been installed and the game is ready to play, however, trying to start it leads the same nessessary update aviable prompt.

Has anyone else encountered something similar or knows where to report this error? I does render the game completely unplayable.

I had the same problem, I just restarted Origin and I was able to play again.

I had the same problem, I just restarted Origin and I was able to play again.

I tried that, and I have even uninstalled origin and installed it again, but it didn't help.

The only related thing I found on EA helpdesk was to use ccleaner, but that seems more about deleting old files not related to origin.

I've managed to find a solution. If anyone else has a similar problem simply disable automatic updates and put origin in offline mode (might work with just offline mode).

It probably not a very permanent solution, but I assume the faulty patch will be fixed at some point, I'm naive like that.

Getting this error on start up, upon clicking to continue to the main menu screen. Started with Patch 7 update (before installing BE or the new MP DLC). I have all DLC's installed, including both MP ones. I tried "Repair Install" through Origin but I still get the error. I haven't tried playing MP, but I am able to load up MP characters and mess around in the inventory screen.

I got a very irritating problem/bug.

7bhq-mh-5d33.png

Some time ago I claimed this quarry. Later I got a new Inquisition point and spent it on the "Forward Scouts" perk for finding quarries and logging stands.

So and now to the problem:

7bhq-mg-6a9e.png

I still can see the quarry icon on the map of Emerald Graves, even tho I already claimed that quarry days ago.

Why does this game STILL crash before, during, or after, passing judgement on someone? I have had this game since launch, and it STILL randomly crashes when I judge someone. What the hell is up with that?

PC

8GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M

(For people posting PC, it's really important you post at least some specs of your computer because certain issues can be directly attributed to graphical load and poor optimization for certain types of cards)

There are a number of issues I've encountered, some of which may be graphics related but I'm more inclined to think it's an optimization issue on Biowares end unfortunately.

- I notice that while I may run around with no frame rate issues or loss of graphic quality, I encounter poor graphics in cut scenes very often and they present themselves in a number of ways:

       *laggy walking

       *out of focus faces

*high res texture and rendering on faces not loading in one scene then present in the next

*background textures and rendering generally poor overall in scenes

These issues seem to be affecting certain cut scenes where dramatic reveals aren't so dramatic because their faces aren't loading properly (for instance, during the last scene before the boss fight of Hushed Whispers, Felix looks normal and I wouldn't have know what he looked like if I hadn't looked him up after the fact)

In terms of graphic overload I would absolutely love if Bioware put in a toggle to reduce the number of non essential villagers/idle people, etc in towns and other locations to help those of us with less than spectacular cards as an alternative to reduced settings (although mine can still run Skyrim on ultra so go figure).  I hate having to run through towns in slow motion unless I'm looking at my feet or the sky.  Still, this is specifically is less a them problem and more a me problem.

- Very frequently in combat as of late my companions and I seem to just get stuck after executing an action and will stand in one place not moving.  I can press WASD until my fingers fall off and they wont budge.  If I force them to jump however, they seem to suddenly awaken from whatever trance they were in.  I am unsure if this is an after effect of using tactical mode and exiting or not (perhaps because I set them to follow themselves otherwise they never attack what I tell them to attack?...specifically tanks) but whatever it is, it's absolutely frustrating when battles start getting tight and you waste a couple seconds figuring out why your characters are stuck staring off into the distant looking like they want to fight the tree and not the monster behind them.

-Another combat related issue I encounter occasionally is with the Charging Bull ability.  So far (I suppose ironically) I only have this ability on Iron Bull but sometimes after I use the ability, if he gets far enough away he will teleport back to his starting position and combat will resume as normal.

-There needs to be a toggle for reloading you party members to appear right next to you.  I've been able to manage this weirdness with summoning my mount and dismounting but it shouldn't be so cumbersome.  Party members are crap at pathing and I very easily lose them behind a small railing because they can't jump over it.  What's the point of having explorable environments if you're party members are defeated by a small rock?  There is a small cave on the storm coast that has an entrance you can only really get to by jumping up to it and I had to manually move all my party members up to the entrance.

*Note:  the reason I mention the toggle is because even after forcing party members to hold position, if the Y axis that a member is standing on is too different, or they are out of view, as soon as I switch to another member, the character I already moved will reappear right next to the new controlled character.

This makes for a particularly horrible "dungeon" crawl through a dark passage way through a mountain in the storm coast with one section in particular right before a ladder where you have to jump up the rocks a bit to fight the monsters (which because of this very issue with poor pathing, everyone lumps into a corner targeting the monster on the other side of the wall)

- This bug has also been mentioned in a previous thread but there is a blocked off doorway in Valammar that you can get through by "pushing" another character through the wall then taking control of said character.  There's a codex, some deep mushroom, and a couple lootables in there sooooo, yeah.

I suppose I could complain about the apparent endless stream of randomly spawning creatures that appear on top of each other one right after the other but I guess I'm going to have to stop being a noob and learn how to play the game.

I've only just barely completed the hinterlands, storm coast, and acquired the mages.  Not precisely looking forward to any number of other bugs I'm bound to encounter.

*edit*  Another glitch encountered shortly after I wrote this.  While doing the final battle of Haven I encountered a number of oddities.  If my character was on the last trebuchet to cause an avalanche, the cutscene shows no people dying, cheering, what have you, and when I regain control, my character is stuck standing upright with arms splayed out and remains this way even when moving or jumping.  Animations completely stopped.  I avoided this by using a companion.  While manning the 3rd and last trebuchet, it seems that at least I was one of the few people that didn't think the battle was all that hard (granted I had all range except for the tank); however the first time I manned it, the boss never appeared and I was able to complete the bar but the quest would not progress.  Further attempts to keep winding the cog just spawned two archers over and over.

XBox One: All Patches installed

Dragon's Bane achievement still won't pop and shows 80% progress even though I have killed - and the journal states - 10/10. Pretty sure I killed them all before the last patch, if that would make a difference. Even if it does, however, a retroactive fix should be possible. Hope to see a solution for this soon.

P.S. - I'd like to thank everyone at BioWare for working so hard and continuing to engage with us gamers to give us the best experience possible. I know a lot of times you just get complaints in these forums with no acknowledgment of the things you do manage to get done. Thanks guys. You are appreciated.

PC here :) (12 GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 7950, AMD Phenom II X4 965)

Can anyone confirm strange companion behaviour? I'm not sure if it's bad tactics setting or bug, but companions don't fight unless the Inquisitor does (when I'm looting or whatever, they just stand there staring at the enemy).

Also, they forget to use their health potions even though I made sure to set it in the behaviors.

Another thing - Map of Elgar'nan's Bastion does not update for me, it's left in the active quest log.

And finally, in The Kinght's Tomb is a texture bug - when bashing the breakable wall, the whole party fell into the structure and it took a long time to get out. Even dying did not help. :(

Spoiler

I might have a work around for this.

Assuming you installed the game using the default settings, you should find your DLC folder for destruction at C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Multiplayer_DLC1

You should be able to fix this error by going to your Multiplayer_DLC1 folder and double clicking the file called "package". If asked, choose to open the file in notepad. It will likely open there on its own automatically, though.

You'll see a few lines of text. The second to last line says "RequiredVersion" and has a number. Take a note of that number and close the notepad.

Go to your patch folder, found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch , click the "package" file there and make sure the number listed in that notepad document is the number that the "RequiredVersion" thing had listed. If its not, change it, save it, and close it. See if this works.

If this does not work, go back to "package" file in Multiplayer_DLC1 folder. Open it again in notepad. The bottom line says "version" and will have a number after it. Change that number by one (i.e., if it says 1, make it 2). Save it and close. Try playing DAI, again. If its still giving you the same error, go back to the "package" file and increase the number by 1 again, till it works.

The error is simply that your save file is telling the game to look for a "version" number higher than what's written in the current "package" file. This is a common problem for modders, since everytime we use the mod manager to make a new mod patch (aka change your mods) for the game, it increases the version number by one and that gets baked into our saves. So if you get a new official patch, which is gonna have a lower version number than what your save file does, this error occurs. Once the "package" file folder has a higher number than what your save file is telling the game to look for, it should work for you.

Another option ulteimately is just to uninstall and reinstall the game.

I have my own bug. I was playing a new game through the Hinterlands and lost several hours of gameplay b/c, at some point, I started being unable to go back to Haven. I could click haven in the map, but just as Haven was about to load, the game would crash to desktop. By process of elimination, I discovered it was only happening after I'd talked to Dennet for the first time and made his 3 quests active. It was happening no matter what character I recreated the circumstances with, so it wasn't limited to one save file. I rolled back to a copy of patch 6 that I have and the problem stopped, so its something to do with patch 7.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or something with my console.

Xbox 360: After a patch I couldn't speak to Cole. It crashes and I get the "disc could not be read" message. It then spread and I couldn't talk to anyone. Now, though, I can speak to everyone but Solas and Leliana (I'm working on getting more companions since I did a complete uninstall and reinstall). When I try to speak to those two the game crashes D:

And now there is no sound...at all

PS3

I keep getting the bug when the map doesn't want to load the next section in multiplayer.

I notice it happens more when the servers are more filled, like on say Friday to Sunday mostly.

I find multiplayer really fun & enjoyable, it's an awesome experience until on section 5/5 when the map decides to not load, making it impossible for me to get in that white circle so we can put the banner down.

ofc it sometimes occurs before 5/5, but I'm okay with leaving the game without too much time being wasted.

I've seen it happen to teammates every once in a while, so I know I'm not the only one having this bug on PS3.

Here's a solution, not a fix; rather a bandage to the problem.

adding a button to the start page that forcefully reloads the map section, like say if someone runs into this bug, they could press start, than R1 & L1, which will teleport them to the start of the section, with the map reloaded.

I honestly didn't read all the responses in this thread.. there's a lot.. But I've found some bugs with the requisitions. mostly drop rates and finishing sections before finishing requisitions.. so I was wondering if there's anyway to add in the ability to drop requisitions. So if they can't be completed, they can be dropped or maybe reset.

Just a thought.

I actually ended up with an easier solution. I had Origin offline for a couple of days. Today when I restarted it, it dl'd an update for the DLC so now the error is gone.

Ever since the most recent patch, I've been unable to exit out of the oculara search screens. I used to be able to just hit esc and exit out, but now if I search for a shard, I'm trapped in the search screen and have to shut down the entire game and restart. When I restart, the shards don't appear. This means any quests having to do with the shards are now not-doable for me.

Anyone else having this issue?

The bug that is EXTREMELY annoying me now is the multiplayer bugs.

I mean I hardly ever play multiplayer at all really but I decided after reaching different potential endings and having the saves set up, I thought okay I'll delve into multiplayer.

Only to find that I get loading screen of death, or if I do manage to get into the game the interface is gone and I can't do anything.

Just now I was in the 4th stage of a multiplayer level and the environment decided not to fully load and I couldn't actually climb the stairs to place the inquisition flag with my group because I was under them on random flooring.

I would run off the edge of an area and I would just be teleported back to the same spot.

One guy even ran up to me to get my attention and then ran back up the stairs whilst I remained underground for some reason.

Anyway it wasn't that big of a deal for me since I don't really like to do multiplayer that much to begin with, but the bugs certainly don't encourage me to keep trying it out.

All in all I still love dragon age though :)

On PC, post Patch 6 and DLC installed:

When character falls in battle, focus is reset to 100 max even when bar was full (to 300) beforehand. The 300 max comes back upon saving and reloading, but in the meantime, 200 focus points are lost. I did not have this problem before.

Still happens as of patch 8 or whatever patch we're currently on.

ps4

"teleporting"  jumping on ledges like on the stormcoast or in Hinterlands sometimes catpults my character well.. sideways...landing seems to be painful as well. happened with player-controlled IB and PC (rogue)

the 3,rd scene with iron bull has a rather annoying graphical glitch? or a videoerror, Idk how to call it.

for a few seconds the picture is just.. red. it just looks weird, like modern art.. a bit like this background but without the swirly pattern? I cant describe it better.

red-black-wallpapers-16714783-1280-768.j

well after a second or two it shows quizzy talking.

During those shades-of-red-seconds  the audio is running fine, as if I could see what happens and I am able to react /make an input for the dialogue. So its like a normal "talkable" cutscene until the screen shows again the red-screen.

its the first time happened now. really weird. so there is no audio-stuttering and neither are any other artifacts visible.

apropos artifacts..

those happen usually in the "traveling" screen.. sometimes the word "Traveling" which is usually blinking wanders to the left and tears, looking a bit like

Traveling....   and then the words travels to the right...which leads to >  |  | | Traveling...

Well thats the worst I think. Also when I accumulate too much savefiles per character the game starts to feel laggy. it gets better the instance i delete a few savefiles. more than 4 +2-3 autosave-slots and it tends to get laaaaaagggy in highly populated areas or when a lot happens on-screen
