(For people posting PC, it's really important you post at least some specs of your computer because certain issues can be directly attributed to graphical load and poor optimization for certain types of cards)
There are a number of issues I've encountered, some of which may be graphics related but I'm more inclined to think it's an optimization issue on Biowares end unfortunately.
- I notice that while I may run around with no frame rate issues or loss of graphic quality, I encounter poor graphics in cut scenes very often and they present themselves in a number of ways:
*laggy walking
*out of focus faces
*high res texture and rendering on faces not loading in one scene then present in the next
*background textures and rendering generally poor overall in scenes
These issues seem to be affecting certain cut scenes where dramatic reveals aren't so dramatic because their faces aren't loading properly (for instance, during the last scene before the boss fight of Hushed Whispers, Felix looks normal and I wouldn't have know what he looked like if I hadn't looked him up after the fact)
In terms of graphic overload I would absolutely love if Bioware put in a toggle to reduce the number of non essential villagers/idle people, etc in towns and other locations to help those of us with less than spectacular cards as an alternative to reduced settings (although mine can still run Skyrim on ultra so go figure). I hate having to run through towns in slow motion unless I'm looking at my feet or the sky. Still, this is specifically is less a them problem and more a me problem.
- Very frequently in combat as of late my companions and I seem to just get stuck after executing an action and will stand in one place not moving. I can press WASD until my fingers fall off and they wont budge. If I force them to jump however, they seem to suddenly awaken from whatever trance they were in. I am unsure if this is an after effect of using tactical mode and exiting or not (perhaps because I set them to follow themselves otherwise they never attack what I tell them to attack?...specifically tanks) but whatever it is, it's absolutely frustrating when battles start getting tight and you waste a couple seconds figuring out why your characters are stuck staring off into the distant looking like they want to fight the tree and not the monster behind them.
-Another combat related issue I encounter occasionally is with the Charging Bull ability. So far (I suppose ironically) I only have this ability on Iron Bull but sometimes after I use the ability, if he gets far enough away he will teleport back to his starting position and combat will resume as normal.
-There needs to be a toggle for reloading you party members to appear right next to you. I've been able to manage this weirdness with summoning my mount and dismounting but it shouldn't be so cumbersome. Party members are crap at pathing and I very easily lose them behind a small railing because they can't jump over it. What's the point of having explorable environments if you're party members are defeated by a small rock? There is a small cave on the storm coast that has an entrance you can only really get to by jumping up to it and I had to manually move all my party members up to the entrance.
*Note: the reason I mention the toggle is because even after forcing party members to hold position, if the Y axis that a member is standing on is too different, or they are out of view, as soon as I switch to another member, the character I already moved will reappear right next to the new controlled character.
This makes for a particularly horrible "dungeon" crawl through a dark passage way through a mountain in the storm coast with one section in particular right before a ladder where you have to jump up the rocks a bit to fight the monsters (which because of this very issue with poor pathing, everyone lumps into a corner targeting the monster on the other side of the wall)
- This bug has also been mentioned in a previous thread but there is a blocked off doorway in Valammar that you can get through by "pushing" another character through the wall then taking control of said character. There's a codex, some deep mushroom, and a couple lootables in there sooooo, yeah.
I suppose I could complain about the apparent endless stream of randomly spawning creatures that appear on top of each other one right after the other but I guess I'm going to have to stop being a noob and learn how to play the game.
I've only just barely completed the hinterlands, storm coast, and acquired the mages. Not precisely looking forward to any number of other bugs I'm bound to encounter.
*edit* Another glitch encountered shortly after I wrote this. While doing the final battle of Haven I encountered a number of oddities. If my character was on the last trebuchet to cause an avalanche, the cutscene shows no people dying, cheering, what have you, and when I regain control, my character is stuck standing upright with arms splayed out and remains this way even when moving or jumping. Animations completely stopped. I avoided this by using a companion. While manning the 3rd and last trebuchet, it seems that at least I was one of the few people that didn't think the battle was all that hard (granted I had all range except for the tank); however the first time I manned it, the boss never appeared and I was able to complete the bar but the quest would not progress. Further attempts to keep winding the cog just spawned two archers over and over.
