I haven't finished the game yet - so I'll come back in a couple days when I am less wary of spoilers, but I was curious if anyone else felt bad when they killed their first dragon.

I felt really guilty when I killed it. The poor thing was minding its own business (unlike, say, the Bone Pit Dragon or the Temple Dragon from previous games) then I came along and was all "Imma kill you and take your skin and wear it!". On top of that, the (gorgeously done) animations when you injure its legs, making it stumble, and the way it roars and gets upset, made it seem like my party and I were really hurting it, rather than just hitting an unresponsive monster.

I think it's INCREDIBLE how well the dragons have been made, they seem like magnificent and dangerous creatures. Just incredible. So, well done, Bioware. Never thought I would feel guilty for killing a virtual fire-breathing monster. The saving grace (and reason this is positive thing) being, of course, that it's fiction, but I had to put it down to write this.

Wow, wow, wow.

I don't feel any guilt for the one in the Hinterlands as it was stupid enough to build it's nest literally a hop, skip, and a jump away from a populated village. Stupid doesn't even begin to describe that sort of planning, beast or not. I've only fought and killed the one in Crestwood in my first playthrough on top of that, waiting for my Strategy Guide and  the next patch to move further in my second one, and that one attacked ME first. I was going for the quarry nearby when it decided to land on top of my party.

Well, the first dragon I killed was the one in the Hinterlands who torched a mining company so I don't feel guilty about that one.

Yep, I did the same thing... Then I went with Iron Bull to the tavern to celebrate.

I feel bad about killing rams and halla. Once I finally get around to facing a dragon, I won't feel bad about killing it. Especially since it will be trying to rip my face off the whole time.

If Dragons didn't want me killing'em, then the shouldn't be carrying all that nice loot on their persons.

After I get the achievement I'll probably kill just enough for weapons or armor. Not going to make them extinct though.

If you didn't kill it, it might have one day swooped down on an unsuspecting village and incinerated it, killing dozens, hundreds of innocents. Let it be reminded: swooping is bad.

Only a little. After all, those high dragons have the capacity to wreck the livelihoods of hundreds or even thousands of people.

The only ones that I feel bad about killing are the nugs and the snowfleurs.  Everything else is fair game.

Although I did have a pang of regret when I killed my second dragon, which wasn't torching mining companies and was just chilling in a sulfur marsh when I came along with Bull to slaughter it.  I'm head-canoning that Skyhold is eating dragon meat for a week afterwards.

The Ferelden Frostback I slayed was pretty damn skinny considering he only gave me 1 Dragon Leather and 1 Dragon webbing.

These damn Dragons are malnourished I say!

I'ma wait til the other dragons put on weight before slaughtering them like the cows.

PS: I did feel kind of sorry for the dragon when I slain it though. Especially when it cried out for it's babies which I then proceeded to brutally murder of course...

What did the Temple Dragon in DA:O do? In my game he just ignored us until I rang the gong and then attacked him when he came down.

Influencing a cult maybe? It's those idiot's own fault, can't blame the dragon for capitalizing on human stupidity.

Well, you have to remember that dragons are incredibly destructive and territorial. They were hunted to the brink of extinction for a reason- they are highly aggressive and lethal. If you feel bad, go after the one in the Hinterlands. Not only is it super close to Redcliffe, it's already burned up a mining team, so that one really is dangerously located.

Not at all. It was a fine kill. Even more fun than shooting nugs and Rams at random. Don't even loot them. The nugs make the most delightful squeaks when they die.

If you feel guilty about killing dragons then why don't you let them eat you or stand still when they're trying to breathe fire/ice on you. Beside you are forgetting about the most important reason to kill any dragons, the LOOT. :P

I do
Even though they are carnivores they are living beings just like me. Still, not sorry to kill if they attack me first. Pure self-defense

The loot was too good, but yeah, I wish we could just all get along and the Inquisitor would bake a cake full of smiles and rainbows and all the people of Thedas would come together and feast on it. :(

I felt terrible after killing my first one. It was the Ferelden Frostback... I'll never forget it :'(
I didn't even get any loot because the loot was bugged.
And here my partner is killing them in his game left right and centre while I'm wondering why we can't just move them all to conservation areas.

I'm head-canoning that Skyhold is eating dragon meat for a week afterwards.

After the 5th dragon ...

"What's for dinner?"

"...dragon."

"Ugh, again?!?!"

"Hey, no one else in the world eats this good!"

"But they give me such gas ... I think I'm dractose intolerant."

The sad noises they make when they're starting to get legit hurt make me really sad, I think the dragon population in my world is going to be very healthy indeed.
