Hi there,

So I just bought DAI yesterday and after heaps of hours wasted in updating Origin and GeForce last night, I've finally got it working and all is running smoothly.

I just finished creating my character today, but after that I think I'm stuck, as in I don't know where to go and what to do next. I can roam around the rocky cliff stage and that's about it. Is this how the game starts? I'm really confused of what to do after, any insight is greatly appreciated, I really want to play the game as soon as possible. :(

I tried and got the Dalish Elf to go to the question phase with Cassandra, will check out the other race as well, but I wanted to start playing out with the Human race.

You can restart and choose the humans before you get to far,and i think your in the tutorial part..Cassandra should tell you what to do or open your map and goto the  quest sign.

Did you skip the cutscene movie or something?

At beginning it explain what you are doing, you are suppose to go close the rift with Cassandra. Half way later a drwaf and elf will join you.

Thanks for replying guys, I appreciate it, :)

Let me see if I'm doing this right, After I finished creating my male Human, there's a cinematic where he faints and some soldiers arrive, then my character wakes up in a weird rocky place.

I can move around, there's no tutorial popup or quest marker/journal update or a map for that matter. Cassandra is nowhere to be seen. Does the human race start out this way?

I had no problem with my Elf as she was immediately being questioned by Cassandra after waking up in a dungeon.

The beginning of the game should be the same regardless of Race, Gender and Class you choose.  Your character should meet Cassandra right away.  You won't have access to certain things (initially), like the character sheet or your inventory.  You will get access to those after finding items and getting to level 2.  Early on, you should follow Cassandra and will fight some enemies and close some Rifts.  I recommend straying off the path to look for items.  Eventually, two other characters will join your party.  At the end of this Tutorial level, you will have to fight a Mini-boss of sorts.  If your character doesn't meet Cassandra right away, try reloading the game to see if that fixes the issue.  If not, you might have to start over unfortunately.

Just tried out with the Dwarf Race, I had no problem like the Elf race. Cassandra was there.

I think this could be a bug for the Humans? I've tried it for the third time now. My human wakes up in the same rocky place with nowhere to go and nothing much to do, and I'm not skipping any cinematics or intro or anything. I can't even save.

Hi Anneplays! I too just started DAI last week and I'm loving it thus far.

Have you tried update the latest patch? EA customer support? I did try playing human race but I didn't encounter any issue. Am currently playing Dalish Elf as my main at the moment :D

I installed the game last night, and I'm pretty sure its been patched to the latest after installing. I don't have any notification from Origin if it needs an update whatsoever.

Will try out the Human one last time, before I contact EA Customer support. Thanks.

Have you tried making another Human?  If not, try making another Human and see what happens.  If it is a bug for Humans, it may be a PC only bug.  I can't confirm that because I play on Xbox 360.  However, I made a Female Human Mage and met Cassandra right away and was able to proceed with the story.

@OP

Did you delete your old human character before you create a new human character?

@Invoky - The first time I played I encountered the issue, I'm not sure what you mean by deleting an old human character? Do you mean a save? I haven't even been able to make any saves with Humans (other races are fine though)

I have the physical copy with me, same thing I did for Sims 4, since I have an uber slow connection.

But don't I have to update the game again? That's the troublesome part because of my net, atleast that's from what I've experienced from Sims 4.

It finally worked for some odd reason, O_O

Last thing I did was played and made a save for each of my Elf and Dwarf. Then decided to try my luck with new game for Human for the fourth and last time before reinstalling... And I finally got to Cassandra's scene! I guess fourth time's the charm? xD

But whatever I'm so glad I can play my Humans in peace. I prefer starting out with them then exploring with other races in the next playthrough. Anyhoo, thanks for all your guys help <3

I had this problem too. For me it was caused by my GeForce GPU not running with the correct settings. I downloaded Razer Game Booster and the Nvidia Inspector programs. Both are free. I set the profile on the inspector to DAI settings. I had to turn up my fan 15% to keep the card cooler also. Run Razer to turn all the unneeded stuff off on your computer and you should be able to run the game more efficiently.

Please note that this is just how I solved my issue with the "Phantom Zone" problem. It could also be cause by a CPU issue, a Directx issue or the game install too.
