Why can't we turn off depth of field and motion blur?

We can turn them to low, but we can't turn them off (unless low is off, in which case it's poorly named).

And many people like depth of field but dislike motion blur.  The two shouldn't be tied together (though I personally would like to turn them both off).

The DOF is often horrible. Chunky pixelated mess.

The Motion Blur is the first I've ever encountered that actually adds to the experience. I'm amazed.

I hadn’t noticed the motion blur which I think means it’s working pretty well. The DoF is a bit mixed; for the most part okay, but every now and then focuses on the wrong part of the screen.

I’d support splitting them up of course.

Would also like an off toggle for both options. I've never been a fan of either features. Motion blur just hurts my eyes, and dof is always hit or miss on what it actually focuses on. Been a few cutscenes where the person talking gets blurred up

Go to the game install directory (the location of DragonAgeInquisition.exe) and create a new text file. Paste this in it:

WorldRender.MotionBlurEnable 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurQuality 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurMaxSampleCount 0

Save and rename the file to user.cfg to disable motion blur. For the DoF, in-game, go to Options > Graphics > Post-process quality and change to low to eliminate most DoF effects.

I have noticed the motion blur. On my Asus 27" LCD it looks like part of my toons face melts off (when turning) sometimes. Since the game's landscape is varied and detailed I have been really enjoying the camera bouncing off of everything making the POV jump all over the place.

Ok just tested what Targa posted and can gladly say it does indeed work. Also gives a nice fps bump so even better
