Merely giving tips that you can then add to your strategy. Knowing how things work and what your options are is important if you are trying to move forward.

I fail at this sometimes but communication helps the most when dealing with the end bosses. Kiting with everyone on the same page helps tremendously.

It only works if you are host.  If you have even a slight amount of lag you can still be caught by the attack even when sprinting.  Evasion skills are far more consistent.

Here is a little video I put together. Shows myself dodging the boss's ambush 3 times off-host. I don't see how lag will affect this scenario unless there is noticeable rubberbanding.

I will admit that using evasion is safer, but it isn't always an option for every character or in every situation. This is simply another option.

Which difficulty though? He gives you a lot more time on routine than on threatening and perilous.

Is this even true?

And threatening.

*edit*

Here's a video I made showing a clip from routine and threatening of the DC using this attack. Might be a little difficult with the YT player but I was able to confirm there was no difference in timing for this attack from routine to threatening and I would assume perilous. Haven't had the experience or tried to party up to find out, though.

DC dodge by sprinting, routine vs threatening

Not sure, havent played routine in a week. I more or less soloed him off host with an archer yesterday. Dude is easy to avoid by running and jumping.

Dodging that attack is pretty impossible as dwarven legionaire if you happen to have shieldwall up

Thread Tldr..

Just Sprint jump a second/1.5 seconds after the animation on You...

I evade tank the dc with any class, all day every day.

Just get aggro, run behind the group in the font room, and kite him back and forth or in a circle while your teammates kill the adds.

If they're not attacking him, you'll never lose aggro.
if you never go into melee range, he'll never do his ranged attack phase.

Doesn't matter what your class is or what skills you're using. He is ****** easy to evade.

For an Assassin, save your Flanking Attack for when the Demon Commander tries to port, as soon as you see the cue, hit flanking attack to dash out of the radius.

Flanking attack works much like Fade step, it covers just enough distance to get you out of the AoE safely but it's instant so you are more likely to avoid him even with lag.

Evade of the other hand is extremely buggy, sometimes it'll work, other times it'll snap you straight back to where you evaded from and you'll still got one shot. Volley is probably your best bet as an archer since it puts you up in the air, thus out of the way of his spinning arms if you get lag.

I'd say Warriors probably have the hardest time getting away from him in time (thanks to Latency issues), if anything that's a great enough reason for the Commander to at least have greatly reduced damage vs Warrior archetypes on his teleport spin.

Saw a Katari on low health charge the DC today while it was doing the fear attack. Katari died, GG.

At least they put all the the bullcrap into just one thing.

You just had a good host, I've been one shot enough times off host trying to sprint, sprint jump, ledge jump and whatnot (clear path - no obstructions, no speed impairment) to claim that it's simply not reliable.

On host it works like a charm, off host is a bucket load of BS spilled all over you, the team and the innocent nug watching from its hole.

All of this is nice in theory and is probably easier solo than otherwise but rarely do you gt the luxury of just being able to dodge the commander and not worry about anything else.  The ancillary bosses, the projectile enemies and the fact that you have team mates that go down means 90% of the time the team fails vs the commander in pug if you stick in the back rooms.  I still maintain that is a dumb start for that enemy class.  Far easier to avoid the commander in the open area and roam as a team or duos picking off enemies than the kill fest in the opening area when the tank gets overrun.

Easiest way to do demons is to have a rogue killing mooks from the outside, have 2 people hold the chokepoint and have the DC isolated in the back with 1 other guy.

He is definitely not very difficult to dodge as long as you are aware of your surroundings.  I did learn the other day that Fallback plan doesn't always work to dodge his attach though.  It gave me a good laugh.

Legionnaire and Templar can actually block the teleport upslash using Shield Wall. Trick is angling the camera with right thumbstick to look down once you've got aggro. I like this better than kiting as a Templar.

I can confirm off host can get you killed. I saw smoke & sprinted off. DC pops up & I was clear of his pop up circle yet I died, 1 shot from full health.

Nope, Banshee could only one-shot one team mate. DC can one-shot multiple players.

Yeh as host you can just jump it, good rubberband gets you killed no matter what ability you use :/

Yeah, they could reduce the AoE of the pop-up attack slightly and it would help with the latency issues.  Right now it is just large enough to make avoiding difficult unless you are host, have a good connection to the host, or a proper evasion skill.  Other than that he is fine.

Just soloed him while my party watched from the fade.

Very laggy host with no evading abilities (fade step would drag me back halfway so i decided not to use it). Playing with a necromancer. Unless you are connecting to your router via a spaghetti noodle then there is no excuse as to why you cant dodge him.

That might be true for you, but its not what I am experiencing.  Even beginning to sprint once he goes underground, there's no guarantee that I will escape his attack off-host.  And no, im not running into things/enemies/teammates, and neither is my router a spaghetti noodle.

Any solutions besides jumping and negating the attack, o mighty DC dodger?
