He drops in like 10 secs anyways on threatening with an archer build. Ring of flank 20% increase + passive flank damage 30%+ 10% trick of trade + ring of leaping shot 30%.
Mark him, fire your main skill than move to flanking pos, leaps shot him at close range, shoot him like twice and full draw. When the mark detonated he's like almost dead. U can use the offensive tonic if u want to inflicted even more dmg.
If others are hitting him also while you have the mark on him it's game over for him.

And any suggestions for killing him as a melee character?
Say a Katari, where the windows of attack seem very small where one can safely attack.

I´d say to attack him when he´s throwing his spirit projectile attack. He doesn´t use his AOE shriek there, does he?

No he doesnt. He will often start meleeing you aswell, giving you plenty of time to deal with him before he goes under ground again.

He can do his AoE shriek attack after X amount of melee's though, even though he is in his ranged "phase".

take a good lego and an ass or alc with easy to miss. the lego agros everyone including the dc i use counterstrike then runs around the outer area the ass or alc just follow behind the dc only auto attk. Makes the demons easiest class. done on threatening.

Why do we need the Lego to deal with DC? The sin can do that easily enough.

you dont. the combo i mentioned just keeps him above ground following the lego like a puppy and hurting no one im sure other classes can work as well

stealth rogues and mages with fade step/cloak are amazing vs DC. stealth + evade means you can constantly dodge it's attacks and if you are getting hit by it, you need to improve your stealth rogue in general. mage fade step can get you out of range if you see the cloud above your head or if you want to get back before the scream. Fade cloak when the dc is about to pop up is hilarious and can also be used to escape the scream (and get extra hits in if you are AW)
for noticing the cloud, just make sure you are always aware of where the DC is, demons are generally quite easy compared to the archer & melee block spam of the other factions, so you can just mash attacks at them while keeping an eye on the DC. if aren't sure where the DC is, check above your head and be ready to move.
also, I've found it's definitely better to stop staying in the room. the ranged demons are easy to kill, they really aren't a problem, so spreading outside just inconveniences the aoe spammers a bit. if people get downed outside, they are often more spread out and the DC often just spawns away from everyone and spams ranged shots instead of diving to attack the person reviving. Just counter DC's mobility and surprise attacks with keeping your distance from each other and so spreading out the risk of getting wiped by all being neatly in one area for the DC. even just spreading to the initial open area outside the door way is fine.
I don't know honestly for katarI. You could bull charge through him but it will take forever. The thing with Katari is you don't have any insane dps skill and you dont have any skills that heal you to be tanky. If you want to play melee dps, use the reaver it's way easier
katari, I would grab it's aggro and take him outside to an area with a nice long clear hallway and then kite it back and forth with charging bull through it and run+jumps otherwise, while everyone else cleared up adds. wasn't the most ideal, but it works well if your team can keep the ghost adds from wearing down your health. ideally there is a good legionnaire/aw/assassin/archer who can either face tank it or kill it fast so you aren't totally stuck with DC trolling duties.
reaver is just rampage+dragon rage spam when you see an opening. even if you get greedy and don't back off in time and get one-shotted, you will have taken like half it's health and so your party should be able to finish it off if they can't revive you.

I have Shadow Step with my Hunter, yet 90% of the occasions when I see his tell, I dodge away early & far enough so that my character even gets back up on the other side of the room, finishing the animation - yet as soon as the DC resurfaces, I pinball-ricochet back to the spot I jumped away from and get knocked down for full damage anyways.
It's happened so often, and I just don't see anything faulty with my timing. If I jumped earlier it may be premature, if I jumped later, he'd "catch" my heel :/
Any ideas?
(This happens in matches with any kind of stable or instable latency.)

create your our room and be the host.
often the poor host room is only obvious when against the boss where you are generally more aggressive with the last minute dodging.
I have the similar happen often too, no obvious lag/rubberbanding until I am using evade or fade step to avoid hits instead of just using them for general positioning. will also experience it when blocking hits with shield wall with timed taps instead of holding it constantly up.

I think he just glitches out and sometimes stops going underground. I had a game the other day where halfway through he just started chilling in one spot and let us wreck him.
