Is the following possible:
Character 1 uses item A
Character 2 uses Item B

When both are equipped (A & B), the game draws a laser/effect between the characters (1 & 2). Think of it as a digital tripwire. If this is possible, could this be drawn with the game's assets, or would you have to create the effect yourself?

While this might be technically possible it would be difficult and probably ridiculously expensive performance-wise. It could probably be crudely faked with existing assets, but would probably be best handled with a new effect.

That said, it might be fun. And of course you've got me thinking how I would handle this if I had to.)

Hm, the Stone Prisoner DLC has something along these lines. Well, it's got a kind of barrier at least, but it's fixed to one spot in the area, not dynamically rendered between two characters like you seem to be describing.

And you can't open the DLC in the toolset to even check out how that was done, so really this reply serves no real purpose. But good luck all the same!

Once you checked Character 1 and 2 have A and B (in the ITEM_EQUIPPED event for example), you could affect the last character you equipped the weapon with an AOE effect (EffectAreaOfEffect).

Then, in the EVENT_TYPE_AOE_HEARTBEAT of this effect, send a projectile in direction of the character 2. And continue to call this event with DelayEvent.

The main idea is to make the laser like a continuous stream of projectile in direction of the character 2.
