When BF4 was announced, I was among many to aboard the hype train. The game comes out, crashes every 5 seconds, barely worked, i got pissed.

I got over to SimCity in attempt to cool my head. Disconnects every 5 secs, DRM, I got pissed.

Then DA:I comes out, and I am pissed again. The game has **** load of glitches form distorted dialogue during cutscenes, my inquisitor flying half way across the map, and texture  not loading for 30 secs (Yes, I counted).

When the new EA CEO said he would do better back in June 2014, I thought he actually meant that. http://www.gamespot....t/1100-6420699/

But after DA:I, I don't know if EA will every change their ways

There comes a point where # of bugs unfinished is acceptable and requires more money to reduce (also number of bugs found pre-release is always less than the number found post-release in any commercial software, exceptions are security intensive things like Air Plane s/w and power plant controllers). Bugs you think of as obvious often require a very specific set of circumstances which are much more likely with a few hundred thousand people using the software as compared to a few dozen QA people.)

I'd hardly call DAI unfinished, I CTD twice at the beginning, but never since (90 hours in) and I have noticed a few bugs but hardly anything game breaking.

This is the only 360 or X1 I have seen that crashes to the home screen. It has bit the dust for me about 4 times in 60 hours. Other than that I've had some of the inevitable clipping issues and an odd "door" in Valamarr or whatever that dwarves mine is in the Hinterlands.

Multiplayer for PC have a lot of bugs, some unrendered rooms, a lot of server disconnected from session, kicked of party for server migrations issues, a very very poor performance. Is this game a beta release yet? seem like I paid $70 dlls for a beta test

I haven't beaten the game yet but I think that the main story is pretty good.  The side quests which to me are big deal when it comes to RPGs I find lacking and repetitive. I'm probably in the minority but I think they went a little overboard with the crafting and gathering which I think is just as crazy as an mmo. Overall I don't think its a bad game but I don't think it deserves near perfect reviews its been getting in the media.

I was worried it was my harddrive, or an XBOX360 issue, making me wish I had it for the new system, when I get it soon, I have experienced a lot, 15 minute loading screens, gave me time to wash dishes, dialog issues, it's like they are speaking a different language, etc.  Anyone else enjoy the take button being the same as jump, nothing like trying to avoid hits in combat, trying to make your way around obsticles in the battle and your character decides it's time to pick the flowers! I love the story, not sure WTF happened about Morrigans ritual, but bioware forgetting previous options in a trilogy is not new, but I like the story overall, it beats Destiny!

70 Hours in with only ONE graphical glitch on a PC with a CPU barely meeting the min reqs.

Obviously there are issues considering the volume of people, but I have a real hard time with people claiming the game is totally unplayable/broken and/or unfinished.

This is pretty much the new normal.

The plan is:

1. Cut corners on QA

2. Release buggy mess of a game

3. Laugh off negative press because it has no effect on sales

4. Let players find the bugs

5. Squash the most gamebreaking ones and ignore the rest

6. Profit

It works because gamers are immature, weak willed, intellectually lazy passive consumers who will lap up whatever crap is thrown at them and the major publishers all know it; they can deliver barely functional products and people will still buy them. Until the game buying public takes a meaningful stand (not just voting EA Worst Company in America) and actually stops buying their products, nothing will change.

there are always some people that can't run the game at all due to crashes and freezes... there are always some that run the game flawlessly and otherwise ignore flaws that others point out... there are always some that can run the game but it has quite poor performance, coupled with the staggering amount of issues while playing, it makes it very hard to continue playing because of sheer frustration

Did you even play any of the iconic RPG's prior to EA's involvement? Did you ever try to play Baldur's Gate 2 unmodded? It had a horrendous amount of bugs and glitches, many of them totally game-breaking, yet is still hailed as the best RPG ever. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic? Also had quite a number of bugs.

And that is the case with most large, complex video games. Hell, it's the cast with most types of software. You cannot possibly test a product enough to discover all bugs, even all critical bugs, especially in a game as complex as RPG's tend to be. Something that only occurs 1% of the time might be almost impossible to spot during development, but becomes very obvious when hundreds of thousands of people are playing. The more complex the software, the more options, the more variations that exist, the more bugs it will have because it is simply practically impossible to make bug-free software. Unless you're designing life-critical systems (power plants, medical equipment, etc) where failing is not an option, but I doubt you'd want to pay the price of a game with such a costly quality assurance.

No, release quality in video games has not declined. Old games had plenty of bugs. Games today tend to be larger and more varied, though, which will invariably result in more bugs. But look at games like Baldur's Gate 2 and see how many bugs they had.

Skyrim had an ungodly amount of bugs as well. It's just an open world game thing. It's annoying. And unacceptable. But games of this kind of scale are always going to be buggy.

People should stop preordering games and buying them right after release (me too). It really doesn't seem like many games, DAI included, are further than beta stage at that point. But really ideal would be that game companies only released finished games instead of leaving countless bugs and clitches in them.

This.

DAI is the last time I pre-order anything, no matter what extra goodies they try to offer. Until the game releases and the professional and user reviews are out there, I ain't buying. If developers are going to release unpolished products, consumers should refrain from buying them until they are fixed, that is the only way the companies will get the message that this practice of putting out games they know to be faulty and patching after release is unacceptable.

Encountered very few bugs and maybe 4 crashes over 80 hrs. I wouldn't call that unfinished. If we were talking content I have a whole other issue.

Sadly, whether your copy of the game appears fine or near-broken seems to be a matter of luck at this point. I've seen comments from some players who don't see what all the fuss is about, then there are others like myself who have had plenty of bugs (in my case texture loading problems, cutscenes refusing to advance, Iron Bull missing most of his dialogue options - he was going to be my LI, too! - severe lag, etc.) I'm a PS3 user, so I know that in my case it isn't a hardware problem either. In short, I think whether you're playing the "finished" version or not is purely luck of the draw! (Bioware devs, if you're reading this, I'll love you forever if you give us a patch! :) *bats eyelashes*)

ummm I dont mean to belittle your negative experience or anything, but Ive had no bugs or gliches in my 31-hour playtime... sure - Ive had tons of frustration regarding the difficulty of certain encounters, but thats more of a whine than an actual complaint. if I were you, Id ask support on their oppinion, though youre likely to get through the regular "are you drivers up-to-date" commentary, but it might be worth a shot. maybe give them some mini-dumps? just thinking out loud here. ;-)
