Is REALLY too much to ask that fix the gender issue? The game has many complaints (controls, UI, AI, you name it) and bugs and things that could (and shouldf) be fixed, and will take (understandably) time to do so.

But THIS? Is it really SO hard to fix a stupid code that tell “true” or “false” when asked about gender. For a lot of people, this is GAME BREAKING (for me it really is).

A week later from the release and what we have?...nothing.

I dont want to re-roll, I dont have to, no one should have to do so...we paid you, we did not steal the game, you did not give it away freely...WE...PAID...YOU.

Is it too much to ask that you fulfill your part in this deal, and fix an error that has been from day 1?

I have paid for a game, and i did not expected to be perfect, but I expected you to do SOMETHING about it (or at least tell me WHEN you will do it)

I'm a bit lost. What's the gender issue?

There have been many reports of the game treating the main character as the opposite gender than the one the player chose.

"Gender Swapped text: A small number of users playing as male are getting female responses and romance options."

Really frustrating...

Cassandra will not sex up the PC because she's decided you are really a girl.

In fact, the entire world thinks you're really a girl.

Huh!

I can see how that'd be offputting. And possibly maddeningly hard to track down.

Not many games get a patch in less than a week. Wait for it.

Gotta give it time. Patching is not as easy as we might think. Without testing, fixing one thing can quite easily break a whole bunch of other things in the process.

Issues like this can be the most difficult to track. If you know that 98% of males and 98% of females are properly referred to in-game, what's that last 2% doing differently? Is a variable being set improperly during character creation? Is it some whackity-nutjob thing related to a gender flag on a hairstyle, or a character feature? Is it only happening to people who select one gender, then back out of character creation and select the other?

What if it only happens to people who first decide they want to play a Dwarf female, then opt for a male of any race?

etc. etc.

lol. That's...really kind of funny, in a horrible way yes for the guys trying to sex up Cassandra. xD

I do know that feeling though, of playing a character in a game and yet being treated like you are the opposite gender. Really breaks the immersion and the in-mind story you have for your character.

heh...

You'd think they'd have tested a number of things out before launching the game.

They probably did a ton of testing and squashed far more bugs than we have seen, but in any case its not like Bioware has a great tack record of releasing bug free games anyway. You just have to expect a certain amount of glitching and crashing in any Bioware game. That said, I'm not saying for a second that releasing the game with so many bugs is not poor form, but I also think we have to give them a realistic amount of time to sort out a fix.

Hopefully they will be more successful with squashing the bugs this time around than they have been on previous occasions when it has fallen to modders to fix the bugs Bioware couldn't or wouldn't resolve.

<tinfoil hat>

... maybe the devs did get inspired by the modding community, they just looked at the wrong mods? Maybe they wanted to replicate a hairmod and instead implemented the 'swap your gender' mod?

Are you sure he's not calling you "ser"? That's a gender-neutral honorific in Thedas.

No the bug actually has NPC's referring to you as 'she' and 'her' and so on. Good thought though.

I was just responding to the Rylo's female PC being called "ser". Don't know if Rylo's experiencing any other symptoms of "gendervitus", so their game might not have the bug. :)

But THIS? Is it really SO hard to fix a stupid code that tell “true” or “false” when asked about gender. For a lot of people, this is GAME BREAKING (for me it really is).

Actually, these kind of issues can be notoriously difficult to find the cause of. If it works for most people, you gotta find the specific state that causes the issue. That can be extremely time-consuming. That it's "just" a true/false thing (iwhich doesn't have to be the case) doesn't make it any easier, because logical errors can also be extremely difficult to find.

Which is not to say that I don't think it's important; I do. But don't ever say that something should be easy to fix, because unless you're a developer who's working on the code in question, you really have no idea whatsoever.

It is no collision detection problem, no fixing controls (like "auto-attack"), givin option of clothes to the skyhold (awful pajamas)  or textures. The gender issue its the MOST FIXABLE error of this game and unless YOU are a developer (and a telepath) don't assume you can speak about what I know.

(more so telling me about the things I can and cannot say just because YOU don't have an idea)

It is an error that should be fixed and I dont think it is too much to ask after a week (if you do, then send your C.V to Bioware and have a nice day)

Patience is the key here. There are many bugs in the game that are being reported. FreshRevenge opened up a singular bug thread in hopes of helping the devs out so that they can go through a singular thread to find all the bugs.

It is "ser".  Just checked with subtitles on.  ;)  At least with the Req. officer.

Agree on the OP.  When I first getting this bug since the day on 17 Nov back then I thought it's not a big deal. Thinking only minor background NPC saying that.

But well now about 30 hours in the game and 1 week and few days pass. This thing is now really a bug now. Most of major character refer to me as "Lady Inquisitor" and I know for sure know that if this is not fixed I might forever lost a chance to romance Casanda [or maybe I already have as I try those romance option and get nothing].

It's might be hard to find this the cause of this [last time I check around we think it's from the dragon keep?] but it's actually important thing I think.

I'm just passing by will check other thread for response about the patch?? [I didn't see any patch yet ??]

ps. I'm start to getting used to the calling now and this is BAD nooo~~~~~!!. [kidding, it's just bug me everytime I see my manly character face get refered as female]

ps2. now to think of it, just find me a way to modify the model. I would now never mind changing the model to female now can go with no romance in this play through.

Ok. What do you know? Do you know exactly what causes this bug. If so, have you told Bio?

"The gender issue its the MOST FIXABLE error of this game"

Unless you know the cause, you can't say that.

What if this bug only occurs in instances when a male Dwarven Noble hero in Origins AND a female Hawke are imported into Inquisition's World State, but Carver has to have died in the Deep Roads in order to trigger it?

What if it has nothing to do with the import state but is instead triggered by selecting one particular hair style and color which happens to be flagged for the opposite gender -- which wouldn't be a problem, except instead of checking the gender of the character, Dragon Age Inquisition just checks the hair style flag for "Male" or "Female?"

Both of those conditions are probably easy to fix... once you find them.

With bug fixes, finding is often trickier than fixing.

Finally: Since it makes no sense to push out patches piecemeal, all this stuff gets schlorped up together. But since the people doing the bug fixing are actually fixing bugs, not writing forum posts, it takes awhile to get communication back and forth.

Hi, I also have this issue, which I pointed out in another thread. On top of this bug I have the quiet party banter one too. I am really loving the game, so I cannot help but wondering how much more I would love it if these bugs were fixed. They do detract a little bit from the experience. I should point out that if you try and seduce Sera as a Male inquisitor who is referred by npcs as a female, there is no audible dialogue if you pick some options.
