I've recently downloaded and installed ME1, and when trying to run it for the first time, the Mass Effect Configuration Uitlity chashes every time at startup.  Any advice?  My system information is below.  Thanks.

Processor: Core i7-920
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX260
Memory: 4GB RAM
Motherboard: Gigabyte EX58-UD3R
Sound Card: Asus Xonar DX

If you are on vista/7 try running the config utility as admin - possibly even xp compatibility mode

Are you using Windows 7? I got the same problem and I fixed it by downloading the latest patch (1.02 I think).



Or you can wait for MS to check for solution.

Actually, I'm running Windows XP.  And there's only one user account, with me as admin.

Ok, I've tried running Scan Disk and Defrag as well. No change. This is really frustrating. I just paid for and downloaded a game and I can't play it at all. You'd think Bioware would have the bugs ironed out by now.



Anything else I should try?

is this downloaded from steam?



If its from steam turn off the in game overlay when launching ME

bump can not load the utility as well using steam

update turned of the overlay in steam and it fixed the problem for me
