So I'm playing a dagger rogue and I got this purple bleeder of souls dagger that's 203 DPS and only lvl 4 requirement.  Obviously I equipped it at the time because its DPS was huge at that point in the game.  When I get to the point where other daggers DPS started catching up I felt like doing some good old damage calculations via the lvl 1 druffalos outside haven(THIS GAME NEEDS A TARGET DUMMY).  It turns out that other daggers with a DPS of 180 were doing both more damage with my twin fangs attack from behind and with auto attacks at the front by a pretty noticeable margin.  So I'm like ok maybe it attacks faster and that's why it has higher DPS.... nope I stopwatched the autos and they are the same speed.  I did all testing with both duelwielding and with just 1 mainhand dagger for at least an hour on PC nightmare. The difference was very apparent when I was just using 1 dagger at a time.  Soooo... what's going on here?

TLDR: Bleeder of Souls does less damage than lower DPS daggers.

Not 100% sure here, but after playing around with runes:

DPS calculations seem to include the rune damage on "normal" attacks while the damage of your abilities only uses your base weapon damage. Putting a specialized (read: non-elemental) rune on daggers really cranks up their sheet DPS more than their actual DPS if you're using abilities heavily, if you want to improve effective DPS, look for weapons with high base damage.

The issue with this is that I was doing more with normal attacks with the other daggers even though the +20 living should have been counting on druffalos.

Don't go just by the DPS. They list weapon damage on the weapon for a reason. Also, I seems AoE effect on weapons the DPS calculation, but I could be imagining that.

The point is what does DPS mean if it does less DPS.
